I can't say about all Rising Sun dogs but I have friend that that has as tough as male as I have seen. He is a JUMP DOG supreme. He runs a good track and pours out the mouth. He is a real pleasure to hunt with.

I have four rising sun dogs three males and one female, their all 14 to close to 15 in tall and built very well. They all hunt hard and run a good track with med. fast to fast foot all have fast chop mouths. They all four are good gun dogs with a lot of desire and my female is very good jump dog.

This is my OPINION The ones I have seen have been a loose with their mouths.

I like a dog who is tighter with his mouth.

One of the best gun dogs I ever owned came out of their kennel as a pup. Was a natural to break no trash period. Do not know the Webb's who own rising sun kennels got my pup from Jim Hughes who had gotten it from Webb's.
The view is all ways the same from behind.

Rockett and his littermate brother Blazer who was my hound (deceased) put a ton of hunt, nose and desire into the pups they sired. If Rockett is still breeding I would be shocked but it would be your good fortune. I would breed to him in a heart beat and wait anxiously for the litter to get here. Paul Webb was and is in my mind a very good friend to me even though we have not spoken in a long time, due to my schedule at work with constant doubles to keep two kids in college, and any spare time in the woods hunting or running. Brains, heart, desire all day every day type hounds are what to expect and Blazer even retrieved after the shot once in a while. You may get a mouthy one here and there but I found that was mostly due from running them to little and the ones that did it would stop after they were run hard. Chop mouth at evry step behind a rabbit or hare and always ready to go. Paul did a fine job with this line and they remain my all time favorite overall......lots of personality and love towards their owners as they are devoted. Hope this helps.
Merry Christmas,

I own a female that is Rockets grandaughter and just like the rest have said, a ton of hunt, pretty good on a check and built as well as any dog you will ever see and DEFINATELY NOT LOSE MOUTHED. I would love to breed back to Rocket if I ever get a chance.
