is there any arha reps on here,,,,,,i have an akc male id like to get arha registered,,,,,,reason being i have a female thats just arha and i want to register my male that way to becase im planning on breeding her very shortly,,,,,,,,,

You don't need a rep., what you're needing is a breed inspector.

go to any arha/nkc hunt and there will be a breed inspector there and he or she will take care of reg. your dog.

If hes already AKC registered I don't think you even need him inspected do you?

yes , you still have to get the dog inspected . the reason is because they just want to make sure it is beagle and it is not over 15inches tall. they who looked at the dog has to sign off on your paper.

I notice you're from S. Indiana, there is a ARHA PP hunt in Lynnville, IN this weekend - you could get him inspected there or I have a buddy that lives in Shepherdsville, KY that could inspect him as well.

I spoke w/ the arha on the phone the other day & was told that any licenced vet can inspect & sign off. Then send 2 profile pictures with papers & its a done deal. Mike

I am a breed inspector. I have always felt that all most registries want is the money. I will not sign off on a beagle that does not meet breed standard (including those that are over 15 inches). It really does not matter if he is too tall, your arha competitors will call you on that if you start winning casts - LOL!

chuck im not a trialer,,,,,,i just dont want to raise grade pups,,,,,,i thought if id register him in arha the pups would have a arha registation if the people that got them chose to use it,,,,,,,,

I completely understand your reason for registering! The pictures and a note from your vet should do the trick! Regarding my previous post, here is what happened at my club yesterday: We were hosting an NKC/ARHA PP Trial and a dog's height was challenged. Our Master of Hounds asked me to assist with the measuring stand. The ruling was that the dog was over 15 inches and he was disqualified. The HANDLER went off grumbling about the decison with comments about how the beagle had competed numerous times and had never been challenged at ____ ____ Beagle Club. I have got GREAT respect for the OWNER though as he never said a word and even assisted us in conducting the trial! Like I said, the COMPETITION will help enforce the height limit and that is THE WAY IT SHOULD WORK!

I agree with you, judges are very good in ARHA PP about asking and pointing out the fact that if someone has a problem with a dog before the cast goes out then speak up. Most of the time, the owners/handlers takes care of the problem before there is a bigger problem down the road. If all would speak up there would be less 16-18 inch dogs running in the trials today, I will say here, I have seen some 13 inch dogs run off and leave a much bigger dog, I don't think the size everytime is an advantage just against the rules. If a tall dog is taken to several trials and dropped by the competition every time then that owner will soon quit bringing that dog. Well said Chuck. dboman
