Crew Chief,

Feel free to email me. Maybe I can help you out with your allergy dog. There are many food options out there for dogs with allergies, but it really depends on what your hound is allergic to and I can probably tell you by the signs/symptoms.

We feed the Adult Chicken and usually pay between 22-24 dollars a bag.
However we do have to ge between 3 different feed stores depending on who has it on sale.

We have checked into buying it by the skid and it was a little more expensive.

The seven dollar checks really help out and sometimes Petsmart has two dollars off coupons.

Here in Kentucky at tractor supply, Purina Pro Plan runs about $34 a bag. We have heard a lot of great things about the protien and fat content and that it is good for fast paced field trial dogs. We have one hound that might be getting it soon.

I find it at Petco for better prices than Petsmart. The last bag I got was on sale for 27.00 I had a 7.00 check and a 5.00 off coupon. ;-) Its easy to redeem the points. Just save them up (weight circles) and once you have enough you send them to Purina and you can choose how you want to spend them. I always go for the 7.00 checks.

I am switching back to the ProPlan 26/18 Chicken and Rice, I get my feed from Tractor Supply, I usually buy the bags that come with 10% free, so its about a 42 lb bag for $27, and I use my rebate checks as well. It may seem higher than what you would want to pay for feed, but after feeding probably 8 different brands over the years, the cost is really the same overall.

I feed both pro plan chicken and rice and lamb and rice. I get it at Petco for 25.99. They also have a program at Petco that you save your receipts and once you buy 10 bags you get one bag free. This along with being a member of the Purina club does reduce the price.

THERE IS A SALMON BASED PRO PLAN FOR DOGS WITH ALLERGYS. IT IS A PRESCRIPTION FOOD. YOU HAVE TO GET IT FROM A VET CLINIC THAT SELLS PURINA FOODS. YOU CANNOT GET IT AT PETCO. IT WILL RUN YOU ABOUT 38.OO FOR 37.5 #. THEY ALSO HAVE A BUNCH OF OTHER FOODS FOR ALL KIND OF ALIMENTS. YOU CAN SAVE THE WEIGHT CIRCLES OFF THAT FOOD LIKE THE OTHER PRO-PLAN.[/b]

I use the pro plan salmon sensitive skin & stomach formula the no 1 ingredient is real salmon. My vet said this is probably the best food i can feed them since more and more medical studies in the veternary world point to fish fat and protien being better for the dogs just like the doctors are all telling we humans to eat more fatty fish with omega 3 fat like salmon ETC.I buy mine at Petsmart because you buy ten bags and save the barcode blocks off the bags and the Petsmart receipts they give you a free bag with your next purchase. Also you can become a member of the Purina proclub and recieve even more discount by saving the weight circles off the bags and 17 of the weightcircles from the 37.5 pound bags of the proplan you can receive a book of 10 seven dollar discount coupons for future purchases.I know it is a little bit of work but if you do both it knocks the price down considerable on the proplan.Hope this helps Vic

Whats the differnce in Purina One Chicken or Lamb and Rice and Purina Pro Plan Chicken or Lamb and Rice. I have been feeding Purina One Lamb and Rice or Chicken and Rice for over a month now and we are seeing a more healthy looking coat on our dogs. We fed Inova for a little while and liked it alot but with the price of it retirement was getting farther and farther away.....
