A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
I use nothing..... but alot of folks use newspaper so you can clean it out and throw it away. The bitch will shredd it herself when she starts digging...
Best to have them on plain floor during whelping, I use the cheap floor tile sheets ( 3' x 3' ) in my whelping box with PVS side rails 2 1/2" to 3" off the ground,,so that I can clean them affter she whelps, newspaper can be shredded by the gyp but sometimes the pups get lost and hidden in there. I use an overhead heat lamp and that keeps the chill off the flooring and out of the air without direct contact like heating pads which you hear enough stories about there danger..
Nothing but the wood floor and I too use a 15-20 watt bulb to keep it warm in the box. But hey my wife does all the work when the pups are coming, shes a nurse.. She loves that kind of stuff.
