Just curious to see who uses cattle tags on there dog collars to control insects.
If so, are you pleased with the results?

What brand do you use?

I know people who have used them but I have also HEARD of dogs eating them! Of course, this is hearsay on my part - never have used them. If you use them, you might want to consider cutting slits in them so the collar can be "threaded" through.

I use them and have good success with them.My 2nd season using them. The younger dogs like to chew on them but have not had side effects.Make sure that you buy the correct ones.I use the tags that have 10% permethrin in them. Some tags can be too strong to use on dogs.

I use them on all my dogs and I love them. I just pierce them right through the collar and the dogs haven't chewed on em yet. Only problem is the briars seem to rip and cut them right up and after a little time they rip off but it only costs about $1 for a new one.

The ones I have are foled over and rivited togather, then the collar put thru them. I think they work great.

If you do use these, please be careful guys. I have a friend who handled one while putting it on his dog. He then without thinking rubbed his eyes, and suffered burns to his eyes.

I've currently been using them for the past two years. I've had pups chew them off with no ill effects yet. I still have major problems though with ticks and my vet is calling me an idiot, (some may say they find that hard to debate). Anyway, I might drop the use of them after this year and use something else. I've been working on this very same subject this week. I work at an animal pharmaceutical company with people in the know, i.e. vets, and have asked the very same question. I'll let you guys know if I find something out.
