Anyone have any opinions on these collars??? I like the fact that you can add a second or third collor on down the road. I can't really afford a 2 dog right now, and at this point I only have one dog, but next year planning on buying a second dog and will need a second collar.
Looking at the sporthunter 1200, 1800, 2000

Couldn't have said it better. If you can't afford the 2 or 3 dog system, buy the 1 this year, sell it next year. You'll take a hit, but you'll end up happy.

Do any of you that replied have experience with sportdogs??? Looking for people that have them or have used them to tell me what they like or don't like.
coolbrze, I am not really in the position to buy one and have to take a hit and buy the second one in a year. Gonna be a Dad for the first time in Sept. Wifey wouldn't understand buying one now and needing another next year.

I have the 1200 with 2 collars. They work fine. The reason people have trouble with them, and I did the same thing. The contact points are short. I was having trouble getting mine to range out. All you have to do is keep the collar fairly tight, or you may even be able to get long contact points. I am getting ready to sell mine, and get a tritronic 4 dog. Because I need a bigger unit, and I like the new G2 setup. The sportdog works great for a beginner with just a couple of hounds.

I have it from a good authority that next years Tritronics will be similar to what you are talking about. Buy a single transmitter and add collars as you see the need.
