Hot Spot
I am out of sulfidine and can't find any local. I will have to make a trip out of the area or buy some online.
In the mean time I have a male with a hot spot that needs drying up. Does anyone have a home remidy I can use to start that thing drying till I can locate some?

Where's the hot spot at?
I would shave it. They clear up allot quicker when it's shaved with clippers. Also shave around the area to help keep it from spreading and then dab it with some povidone-iodine or betadine a few times a day.

All good advice and all will wotk as the other folks have said.
I'll add another one that works also although it is not herbal like I like.
Brake fluid with some powdered sulphur mixed in will dry it right up.
A shot of Ivermic wouldn't hurt either if your dog can stand it as sometimes it is caused by a skin mite.

best home remedy i have found is used motor oil, powdered sulfer, deisle fuel and turpintine,,,mix well and use a sponge to put it on, my dad did this years ago and it would grow hair on concrete,,,,,,
1 gallon of used oil,
1 quart of deisle fuel
1 cup powdered sulfer
1 cup of turpinetine
now everybody mixes it different,,,,,,,,so you can mix to your desire,,,,,

this time of year hot spots could be started with a high protein dog food
thats just to hot for some hounds. i use nustock for all exterior skin
problems. a round or two of cephalexin wouldn't hurt either. it'll keep up
there immune system.

Question here? This maybe a dumb question but just currious and want to know since I don't have the answer gonna ask you.
What does Motor Oil, Brake Fluid, diesel fuel, and or turpintine do for the dog?
What does each one do to help get rid of the hot spots?
I would be a little worried about using the petro stuff because of all the carsengenic properties they have. That is why I am asking what does it do for the dog that other items not so carsengenic could do?

From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be
tc i think that your question is great and is the reason why i use babyoil instead of the before talked about oils.... i think the oil is used to keep the needed substance in place i.e. the sulfur and it has worked geat for me and the baby oil is good for their skin also.

Thanks for the replies.
For starters I didn't have any sulfer of any kind on hand SOOOOOOoooo went with the apple cider vinegar. I happened to have some of that in the kitchen. With the sulfidine you can see a difference the next day, I didn't see any change with the vinegar but may take longer. That sulfidine is GOOD STUFF!!!!!!
The problem is everyone is sold out in the small town I live in BUT I have to make a trip to Atlanta today. I am sure one of the wal-marts will have it I pass along the way.
BTW, I wanted to thank everyone that sent me emails. Several folks offered to mail me some of the medication. That is just unbelievably kind and shows that you guys care as much about the hounds as I do!!!!
I respectfully declined because I can get it, but was just looking for something quick to get me through till today.
No better folks in the world than in the sport of beagling!
