Brankos Beagles
Has anyone bought a finished beagle from this kennel. I see the name alot but do not know anyone that has one. I have looked at their web site. But thought I would ask for some opinions. I am looking for a female. I have contacted a couple of people from this site but the leads have not gone anywhere. Any suggestions. I am interested in a AKC Female only. Would like something that can run in the Little Pack Format. Although I primarliy only Gun Hunt. I also do not like dogs that bark alot before the Rabbit is Jumped.

id say if you find a dog that is finished from branko himself its going to cost a few paychecks. id guess $1,000 or more. he gets $500 for an unstarted pup.id also guess that if its started and he gets rid of it then there is a reason for it and id stay away from it. there are alot of dogs that came from canada that are finished and are floating around for sale. but ask youself again why are they for sale.

There are good and bad everywhere... Yes there are some breeders more reputiable than others but if your buying a started or finished hound and don't see it run your out of your stinking mind..... If your location on your profile is correct be awful hard to watch a finished dog from Branko run..... You be far better off buying a pup from them or going and watching a finished hound around your area run that is for sale.... There is just as good as dogs in your back yard as their is in the North woods.... just some advice and good luck

Straight&narrow has a great point. However, you will be years ahead and save a lot of money by finding a kennel in your area that has the type dogs that you like. Kennel names and championship pedigrees don't mean anything if you don't know the dogs in the pedigree. There are a lot of Kennels and a lot of trials between West Virginia and Canada. Get out and look around you will meet a lot of nce beaglers and see a lot of good dogs.

running dogs from Branko
I myself have never bought a dog from Branko but, I have several friends that have and know several others who have been up to his place to hunt and/or buy a dog.
I have heard nothing but positive comments in this regard.
If you can't get up there yourself and you call the Krpans and describe as close as you can to what you are looking for they will try their best to match you up with what you are looking for [this is what my friends told me and they were very pleased with what Branko sent them and the dog was exactly as Branko described it ]
And I couldn't disagree more with the guy that insinuated that there has to be something wrong with a dog that is for sale! I just sold my best dog and the reason was I was offered alot of money for her. Other reasons are that the dog may be a perfectly good dog but just doesn't suit you for any number of reasons, someone has too many dogs, going through a divorce, getting out of trialing, Too many males/females, litter of pups coming, looking to bring some different blood into the kennel,etc.,etc.,etc.
And hey give it a rest about the price of a dog! A dog is worth whatever a seller asks and a buyer is willing to give.Of course Branko is going to get a good price for his running dogs. One it's cause he's in the beagle BUSINESS, two he happens to have a kennel full of some top performers that have managed to win the International Beagle Hare Futurity, the AKC NAtional Large Pack, the UKC Nationals and alot of FTCH and IFC hounds over a number of years also
It only costs a nickle to go first class ans the old adage that you get what you pay for often IS true.

I've owned one from Branko's kennel and he was a very nice hound. I have ran with one other finished hound bought from Branko and she was a very nice hound,if she was a cull I'd take a few of Branko's culls myself.

Tommy when you bought your Beagle from Them did they give you any type of guarantee. That is alot of money to pay for a dog and not have any return privlages. I see a female on his web site now called Contary Mary. She looks nice and he talks very good about here which he should he is trying to sell her but The male he is trying to sell Snowman he is telling you that the dog is slow. Guys I am just wanting a Gyp that I can hunt and raise some pups with but I dont want a female that is no count. I simply dont believe in the Brood Female route. If it is in My Kennel it is going to hunt.
I didn't buy the hound from Branko I got him from a friend that Bought him from Branko finished,as for the return if not satifyed I'd say you'd have to ask Branko or Frida about that. I do know they have some nice hounds for sale. There are some fine hard hunting Females real close to home here in WV,look around home and you can pick one up cheaper.

If you can afford to buy direct (eliminate the middle man) Branko has and is producing top notch hounds , I met with him several years ago and he was quite the fella . I personally use a splash of his dogs in my program .
They seem to match well with my current line , He also brings some pretty strong credintals to the table , as he has won every thing in every registries known to man

It Kills me that people don't recognize the accomplishments of the Krpans.... I'm not saying you have to buy a dog from them that is fine, but to say they haven't influenced the beagling world in a positive manner is crazy... You are hard pressed to find a dog that doesn't have some sort of Branko in them somewhere. I have never bought a dog from there, never met them, never really plan on meeting them but am smart enough to know when to tip my hat and say nice work

Did ya ever think of asking yourself when ya tip your hat how many bad he has to good, why he doesn't send many of his hounds around Canada to trial, why he sells little to nothing in Canada?(people won't pay the big $$ for his stuff here its not worth it ).Ask why he doesn't trial himself anymore(Don't say distance or $$)He did it years ago and lots.He just gets clowns like me and you to do the dirt work and put his name on them now.Anyone can say and look at this kennel however they want,I call putting only a guess 200+ pups on the ground a year a puppymill and thats that if not what is a puppymill???I presonally think they are great bussiness people and do know more about beagles then me or you might ever know but that is how it is when you breed so much ya got to learn.I would suggest you look around your area and save your $$ not saying all branko hounds don't measure up but I do think they are way over priced for what ya get.You boys down south are the biggest buyers by far
And yes I seen my share of Branko hounds.Dan

Always Play after a storm life is great
Records live, opinions die. I have been to the Krpans serveral times and when you think these folk are not for real you are very wrong. Just plain people with the insight to breed better hounds. I have a pen full Brankos and if you think Branko sells sorry dogs I will say, Bring your best and run with me. I have had hounds all my life and this is the first time there is a enough hunters wanting my dogs that thay pay their own way, plus some gas money. Freida fires me every I go there, because I handle puppies too rough.
