I had a cherry eye removed from one of my dogs about 6 months ago. He looked the same way after the surgery as he did before the surgery. His eye was cloudy for about a week thou, the vet gave me some ointment for it the day i picked him up and after about a week the cloudyness went away. I hope this helps some.

What procedure did you guys have done on your dogs? I have 2 gyps with cherry eye and my vet. gave me 3 different options to chose from with just cutting it out being the least attractive one to me ( even though it was the cheapest ). I am having it done next month and still haven't decided which way to go just yet.

I have never known anyone that took a dog to a Vet for Chery Eye.
Catch it with a fish hook and pull it out some and cut it off with a sharp knife or razor like a box blade. Put some good ointment in it and its done.
Done it and seen it done many times. Never seen a problem at all afterward either.
Going to a big everything trade day tomorrow for some plants and there will be many dog folks there that will cut it off for you at no charge.
Castrate any animal for $10.00 too if you want. Takes less than one minute.

Surgery is the way to go for the long haul. They nip and tuck it back into place.
