I have a 6 year old female that is due to deliver somewhere between the 12th and 16th of this month- she has until last night eaten fine, she ate maybe half her feed last nite and I tried her this morning with a fresh bowl and she ate little if any. She acts fine seems to be drinking as normal any help or input here would be great. Kurt

SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS NEAR TO WHELPING . ARE U SURE OF HER WHELPING DATE. MINE GOES OFF ON FEED 2 OR 3 DAYS BEFORE WHELPING.

Earlybird, I was sure, but am now thinking maybe sooner on the drop! I have had this in the past with females whelping- a couple days before hand they get disinterested in eating I will keep a close eye on her and hope for the best. Kurt

Yes, it sounds to me like she may be closer than you anticipated. One of our females goes off feed prior to whelping but the other one will hog it as though she's starved to death.

Take her temp., 101-101.5 F is normal.
If it's 103F or greater, she may have infection from a dead pup.
If it's 99F or 98F, your getting ready to have pups.
Best of luck with your puppies...Patch

Female usually doesn't eat the day before. I would have to agree with Patch.
