Have you been running the dog? Sounds like something got stuck in there. Take some saline solution (for contact wearers) and rinse out both eyes. I mean spread them wide open and gently rinse them out completely. Look for a seed or piece of debris and flush it out. That will probably take care of it for you, but just to be safe go and get some opthamalogic (sp?) antibiotic ointment at a farm store/feed mill... and put that in there too. Both are a good thing to keep on hand. I make a habbit of rinsing out my dogs' eyes after running as a preventative measure. I haven't had any issues like you describe since starting to do that.
Good luck and keep us informed.

You can put mineral oil in the eyes too to make the natural tears flush out foreign bodies and infection. Erythromycin ointment is the antibiotic that is used for eye infections. I wouldn't wait too long to see a vet, with the eyes, something simple and curable can turn ugly pretty quickly.
