This is possibly one of the best puppy foods you'll find. I am sure that if you try it, you'll never try anything else.

I had a distributor for Black Gold tell me that the black bag (26/18) meets all the gov't requirements for puppies as well as adults. He said I could buy the more expensive puppy food, but it was a waste of my money. I too used to feed Daimond puppy food for my pups and momma while she was nursing, but I won't feed it anymore. I haven't had a litter of pups since switching to Black Gold, but I have raised a couple of pups after being weened using just the black bag of Black Gold and have had no troubles at all.

Canidae All Life Stages..used to feed Wellness Puppy but this is just as good, if not better, and costs less. I am also leaning away from the super high protien & high fat "puppy" foods...and in the mornings I especially like that this one product can be dished out to ALL of my dogs (I'm from horses, I feed 2X a day).

Feed any good feed, sprinkle some "calf manna" on it and mix with some warm water. Pups wean early and grow great on it.

I use Purina Puppy Chow. It is kinda expensive but it does great for me. The pups seem to grow great on it.

Purina One Puppy. They love the taste and look fantastic and are real energetic...I bought 5 major brands and performed a taste test.. I used Eukanuba Puppy,Science Diet Puppy, Purina Puppy Chow,Purina One Puppy, Iams Puppy...I let a litter of 8 pups go with all the bowls set out at once and 5 went to the Purina One, the other 3 went to diferent bowls but left them and went to the Purina One and they finished the entire bowl.. Thats all I needed to know....

Do a little homework. No one food is right for everybody. I feed Sensible Choice by Royal Canin to all my dogs, Labs and Beagles with much success. It has no preservatives or fillers in it. Lots of protein and other things they critically need. Keeps all my dogs skin healthy and dandruff free. Keeps pads healthy. Stay away from foods that have a lot of corn. Just asking for trouble. It is a cheap filler that causes alot of health problems. From allergies and skin problems to more expensive digestive problems. I have seen problem rescue dogs health turned around in as little as 3 to 4 weeks.

Why did you all stop using Diamond. Was it the big problem they had a while back with dogs dying or something else. I had been feeding max. nutrition but they quit carrying it in big bags so I just switched to Diamond lamb and rice with no corn. May be a mistake but I figure that they will really be careful with their food since that bad batch a while back .

I seldom say much about dog food, as the premium brands all seem to be similar, but I have noticed a big difference in Diamond puppy over the others. Dark firm stools at early age, healthy vibrant pups with nice shinny coats.....I couldnt care less what brand of food everyone chooses, and I certainly have no vested interest in Diamond, but if you believe any of the other brands couldnt have a bad batch of food you are mistaken.....Diamond I thought did a good job of getting the word out....I recieved a letter in the mail to verify I didnt have any of the involved feed, offering double pay back.....The 30/20 Professional blend I feed was not involved......Whether you ever decide to feed Diamond or not to your adult dogs probly doesnt matter, but if you overlook their puppy food your missing out!

Alabama John has got it. I bet I have raised over a hundred litters of pups and the milk replacer sprinked over your choice of dog food will make a pup look like a butterball. I have never lost a pup during weaning. Try it, you may find it works for you.......
