I sent off registration papers on 2 pups around the 10th of february and I haven't heard a thing. They haven't cashed my check but they don't have any record of my paperwork either. I spoke with someone yesterday who claims that they will be finished with all of the backlog by friday. I hope they haven't lost my papers because I caught pure he_ _ trying to get them from the breeder.

I guess I'm just lucky. It's not took me any longer than two weeks at the most to get anything back from them in the last two years. Fact is I got puppy paper back in a week on one dog. Perhaps I should knock on wood.

i had a heck of a time with my last litter reg. it took about 7 weeks to finally to get them back. but the "odd" thing is my check was cashed by AKC in only 10 days after i sent it  . just make sure you copy all your forms and mail as soon as you can. thats all you can do.

I mailed 2 sets of "puppy papers" in to the AKC on Feb. 16th. After receiving nothing back, I called my bank and they said my check has never cleared. I then called AKC and got a recording stating that they were in the process of switching over to a new computer recording system and all papers sent in after Feb. 15th was "on hold" until the new system was completely installed.

If I dont get my papers back before long, I'm gonna call again, and this time I am not going to accept any pre-recorded phone message as an answer to the where-abouts of my papers and my check.

I have one more "puppy paper" yet to send in, and I am afraid to send it until I see if I get my first 2 sets back.

This is how they keep their pepers worth more. You know, supply and demand. They keep the demand high by keeping the supply low. To me it looks like their demand is getting pretty low. Did anyone see there registration numbers from 2002. They are now at about 950000 dogs registered. That is down over 250000 from three years ago. this means that there business is down over 20 percent in three short years. If they continue this trend NKC will be registering more dogs than them in 15 years :D

Well I "Finally" got my 2 sets of AKC registration papers back today. Getting close to 2 months in waiting......a note in the envelope said their new computer system was up and running.

And what about this 60 day dog health insurance they are sending out? Anyone else get one of these from AKC yet?

AKC Raising Recording Fees to $3.00-4.00 From 50 Cents

Somehow you'd think that an organization that lost 36% of its market share in the last five years would take a longer look at its product, rather than continuing to raise its prices. U.S. dog ownership is steady to rising slightly. What do dog owners want from the AKC that they're not getting? The better AKC management financial solution would have been recover those lost registrations and declining entries, whose incremental cost was minimal. With its heavy investment in automation, recording and registration costs have dropped substantially, making that option very nearly pure profit.

Please read AKC Chairman Menaker's letter at http://www.akc.org/insideAKC/board/chai ... tter03.cfm There's no way that inflation or the CPI's gone up 500% since 1983, as suggested. Maybe a recording fee increase is appropriate, but equally subject to review are the costs and inefficiencies of maintaining separate New York City and Raleigh, NC operations, the art gallery and the infamously inflated staff travel budgets for which a 17% reduction isn't nearly enough. Where's the next entry fee plateau which costs clubs significant entries. I can't conceived of a move more likely to lessen AKC event participation and further reduce the fancy's support.
