i was just watching dog have pups and noticed a pup born but afterbirth stayed inside her . is this something i should be concerned about?

Jim,

If the after-birth stays inside it could cause a serious infection. If you value this bitch, a trip to the Vet won't hurt. He'll probably give her a dose of oxytocin and some antibiotics to clean her out. The oxytocin also aids in milk flow. I know of 4-5 good bitches owned by others that died because of infections after whelping.
