In Memory of a Fine Young Hound

Yesterday ended on a very sad note. Around 6 Pm, Star died. She had been sick off and on for several weeks. Back in February she had a cough that kept her out of the woods for about a week. She appeared to be better and was able to finish out the season. Several days ago she looked a little down and lost her appetite. I was hoping she would shake it off and get over what ever was making her sick. Today I knew she was in real distress. Her nose was hot and dry and her eyes were running. I took her out for a short walk and she was not up to a walk. I gave her some Tylenol and some Gaiter-Aid and took her back to her kennel. I left her there around 5 PM. At 6 PM she was dead. Star was a fine young hound that will be missed and remembered by this old man.

CC,

Sorry to hear about your dog. Check with the Better Beagling Q&A board. Several hound owners, Bob Keese in particular, had a dog die with symptoms described much like yours. I think he said it was Blasto. I'm no Vet but from what these gentleman experienced you had a few of the classic symptoms.

not to be telling some one what to do with thier dogs i work at a vets office as a vet tech. and we see it alot where people have given the dogs tyenol or ibprofen that will shut down your dogs body and kill them. the best thing is to give asprin(coated).

Thanks to all for all the words of support... Thanks grim for the information... I did not know that tylenol was a problem. She was pretty much gone when I gave it to her but I will not do that again...
