My pup turned 4 mo. old yesterday and she had only opened a few times, starting when she was 3 months. I ran her last night and she really opened, like I've never heard a pup this young. This is the earliest I've ever seen a pup really open up while running a rabbit. I don't mean a yipe here and a yipe there, I mean full yipping and some bawling thrown in while flat out burning the rabbit up! We ran 3 or 4 diff. rabbits over the course of an hour or so. It was around 9 p.m. and dark outside, lots of dew on the grass, no wind or rain, basically absolutely perfect scenting conditions, but nonetheless, amazing. What do you all think?

Think you should take her back out, let her do it again! Had a litter about 5 years ago that i kept 6 out of. They all started at 3mo. old. I'll never forget one day i took all 6 pups out, conditions were perfect. They ran a rabbit like they had been doing it forever! It was a sight to see! 6 little pups runnin! Best thing about that day was that I had 2 buddies with me, who probably wont forget that day either. I love when they start early. Just something about watchin a dog not even half grown, learning to do what it loves best. Ended up keeping 2 from that litter, one killed on road, still have 1. 2 were trialed out of litter, both made champion. Havn't had litter like that since.

My wife hates it when they start early.....means Ill be back at it night after night. Without a doubt, its nights like that, which make us keep coming back! Makes up for the days when your brag dog trees a squirrel in trial and doesnt want to give up.......
