Pups need started
I have 4 pups that need started. Two of them are females that are a little bit older, both have been in the wild with older dogs but just haven't put it together yet. These two need time in rabbits. The other two are 6 month old males that haven't been messed with. I am looking for a starting pen or someone that would be willing to start these pups in or around Indiana. Please don't suggest Cliff Troxel, as I have used him before.
Please post names, addresses and rates.
Thanks,
Craig Tull

Craig,
Dont know how far from Elizabethtown, KY you are. I know of a bunch of guys that send pups down to Danny Padgett's pen and they all say he does a very good job. He frequents this board so I'm sure he can give you the details.

Here at Red Briar Kennels, we take great pride in our training program. We offer “real-time” training techniques, meaning we use no pens as all our hounds are trained like you hunt…in the wild. Let us start, train or condition your already running hound right now. We offer both short and long term training programs. Choose to have your dog simply started or have them broke to the gun.
Our program allows us to spend one-on-one time with your hound, the way it should be. All hounds have journals kept on them for “trending” your dog. This allows us to better focus on each dog’s needs on an individual basis. Coupled with weekly updates, you the owner know exactly what your hound is doing each week no matter what the distance.
At Red Briar Kennels, we excel at bringing out the qualities that you have bred into your hound. As well as provide an atmosphere allowing your hound to perform to the best of it’s ability and breeding under optimum circumstances.

I have two 8 month old females with Steve right now. I dropped them off last Monday. It was a 5 hour drive from NW Indiana but I'm glad I went. He has a good looking set up and after talking to him for an hour or so I feel he has the attitude and knowledge that I was looking for. He does all training himself and is not just about running but behavior and handling. Has lots of land at his disposal and trains in the wild. Uses shock collars in case they bump a deer but only as a last resort. Gets to know the dog and it's personality and has a very professional attitude about what he does. Can't wait to hear from him this coming weekend to hear how they are doing.

I would also reccomend Steve Cellar. He has an awesome set up. I have 2 dogs from him. A male that i had him start for me and did a fantastic job. And i just got a female from him not too long ago. She started at 5 months for me and she was running circles at 6 months.
