can dogs make the switch if they are not ran on snow or does it take some time to get use to this.

Anytime there is an change in the environment the dogs are acustomed to there will be an adjustment period, for some more than others.

Our dogs in the north learn to run on all types of ground. Today wet snow, tomorrow dry ground. The scent is still there. The Chinese Crested was tonguing on the rabbit this afternoon- it was almost as big as her. Beagles flushed the cottontail on snow right into the Crested. Two shelties chimed in too. What a hoot! It depends on if they ever ran on snow before. If they haven't it could take some time if they have I find it usually takes a day to get tuned in. Same as going back from snow to sod, it takes some adjustment time as Norwester has said.
