What Do You Think

Post by thornie »

We buy a hunting liscence, deer permit, water fowl permits and whatever else we need. Then if we get caught without any of these we pay a h**l of a fine. But the VP only has to pay $8.00 because he didn't have one to shoot his hunting buddy.

Not that it matters, but I think it was $7. They had both bought the necessary $125 out of state license. There is a new upland game bird permit ($7) in TX that they were missing. The citations are weak now b/c it's a fairly new permit.

I think that it is a tragedy anytime that there is a hunting accident, regardless who is involved. Let's just be thankful that no one was killed and we all can learn a valuable lesson here involving hunter safety.

I'm still trying to figure out how a shot from 30 yds away, with a 28ga loaded with 7 1/2 shot gets through the clothes, the chest and to the heart.
The meda said, there was between 6-200 buckshot in the poor fellow....that's some guess
Now, I don't have a chart but I'd guess there is 3/4 oz load in a 28 ga w/7 1/2 shot, and, maybe 250 leadshot... Anyone got the real numbers?
I'd like to see a shot pattern of a 28ga 7 1/2 shot at 30 yds...don't they use Imp/C for birds? I'd guess 40".
Hope the fellow comes through ok, and everyone stays alert to their surroundings, while afield.
This is just a sad event, but I'm glad our P & VP are hunters, reguardless of their politics...

Post by SHOTGUNN »

As coolbrze stated above this is a new permit that he was required to have my brother-in-law is a state game warden here and he said that they are only issuing warnings "to everyone" at this time for the violation[/quote]
