Just wanted to say Hi to Bev and Don. I haven't been posting for some time as I am going through devorce procedures. The dogs and line itself is still doing very well. Becouse of the trouble I had at home and my marriage I almost sold out but I wouldn't give aq lifes work away too cheap. I haven't advertised in years and have 97 calls for dogs.
I haven't been mass producing hounds and probably won't cause great hounds shouldn't be in mass quantitiies. Congradulations to the new owners of the pup Boldstrokes Slim Stretch for his quick Champion title as well.
And congradulations to his new owners. For showing what dogs of this line can do again in the pubics eyes under any judges ..Stretch was sold at the first part of gun season as a young 8 month old pup Started here. Sold once to an abusive owner and stood back up and showed the raw power and aggression against all odds to Champion-his story was nothing short of incredable. He started his first rabbit circling at 4 months old. He should be around 14 months old by now and easily and quickly tittled a Champion hound. He as many others that have proven reproducing & bred correctly from here Makes all the odds get out of the way of achievement.- THese hounds will continue an impressive record with the main concerns of hard hunt and drive. This is and should be what beagles should be all about. Getting these results took years of time and work effort.
I will continue to breed the many proven reproducing hounds when I feel its right. There are many more Champions to come as easily as him and all in the past. Many others too could have and did Win there tittles as well, with no more trouble than a kids cake walk. Costing little for the tittle in entry fees becouse of there make up.
At this time I have put the sale of any of the hounds and reproduction of this type on a slight hold. ((beware of counterfits) Call me if you need to know what your buying if you want one of these hounds. as I am the only person responsible for there purest quality, capibillities, & breeding. (When available) Wether from friends of mine or myself give me a call first to safe guard what you get. I know who cares about what there breeding, and those that want to use one dog to simply use the lines name and outcross to anything that has a tail to sell an unlearned buyer. I also know some will try to take my years time in as there credit and change the name of the hounds.. THis only hurts them and there dogs as folks like these hounds as pure as they can get them. but This will not change the dogs abillitie. As I made them what they are. This practice Of taking credit for a well developed proven line is simply a show of weekness that is a sad thing ! This practice can and did abolish many past lines in time as always in the past eventually they dissapeared and where lost! If you don't want a proven great don't buy one or change there inherrited lines name. The lost lines speak for themselves in there extinction. I assure top hounds to arrive that are now growing and getting into there 14th month of age to come for there winnings as easily as all the others before. With enough hunt and drive to drop many other hounds in the worst heat and coldest weather. (As they have done and from selective breeding will continue to do)
The boldstroke line is alive and as hard hunting as ever! through the inherrited factors of the many years of genetic art work.... Some of the finest proven hounds with well thought out selective breeding for some of the best working hounds you can find today. To give those that do get any dogs of this line years of happy aggressive hunting as always with proper handeling and training.
Stretch was bred at 8 months old because I new from the breeding of over 40 years what he could do, & saw what he Did with a rabbit early on. This was no mistake!!! He as all my hounds from here are well planned genetic breeding. He had his first litter due before he was sold at 8 months and the owners of his young pups are so happy with the performance of there Young 4 month olds incredable hunt and and over achieving field tested desire to run that there will be a story about the HUGE differece in what type of pup they got compaired to what they owned in the past. This story will be in the Rabbit hunter Magazine.
Im sorry to have had to put those that wanted a pup on hold as I couldn't do more than I was able. Nothing good is too easy!
For those that wondered-Im not dead yet.. and these hounds will last for ever for those that care to practice the better breeding of One of the finest hardest workers I ever had the pleasure to hunt with of the many hounds available.
I am very happy with the real storys and letters I have recieved.
I wouldn't change one thing about this line. Any fool can buy a great prospect and destroy it with no sence of knowing how to train and unfortunatly I have seen a couple do that. but I have never seen any hound I have kept from this line not run well. And for the amount I have had thats saying alot. Jim Brown Boldstrokes Sonny is running well if you call me.. I lost my personal phone book! Even though he was stolen (this pup) and laid up those important months he is now one running fool!!! like a duck to water as usual!
Looking forward to seeing his brother Boldstrokes Gun this year and Boomer, in the trials as Im sure him as the other young hounds you got from this line are going to do well. I know you and a few other happy owners put in the effort and time training. If I wasn't sure it was in them I sure wouldn't say it. The fantastic thing is they came from all different fathers and Boldstroke relatives.
Im sure they are impressive like all there well ran and selected related relatives were before to keep there own aggressive style..
Good luck to all and all your efforts as good concearning beaglers.
Hope you had a good year! Gill Davis Boldstrokes@msohio.net

Hi Gill its great to here from you. Sorry to here of your personal problems. My computer had a virus and lost my addresses. So I havent been able to e-mail you.
I have a 8 month old pup out of Boldstrokes Rebel. When I bought my pup Rebel had acheived HBCH status. My pup Riley started at 5 months. His second time out he opened on a rabbit. He caught a rabbit at 7 months. Gill really has some remarkable dogs. If you get a chance to get one of these dogs I highly recommend it.

hang in there gil. i have a beagle thats 1/2 boldstroke breeding i got from gil that is one of best ive seen . pete
Gill,Gill,Gill.........I thought you had died,...really. But I`m glad you are still around to share your vast knowledge of beagles. I have never meet anyone that has devoted as much time and energy into their line of beagles. Glad your still here. I e-mailed you a couple of times with no answer, but I know you have been busy.
All of the young hound I got from you (2 out of Rebel and 1 out of Stretch) are doing great. All started young and have more hunt and desire than any dogs I`ve ever hunted over. They are very aggresive, hard hitting, run to catch style hounds. I would not sell or trade them for any amount of money or for any dog I`ve ever seen.
I didn`t make any trials this year but planning on running some in the near future, I finally have something to be competative with.
Remember the names Boldstrokes Grace and Boldstrokes Jessie you will be hearing them again.LOL

Gill-
My name is Mike Adams "M.A. Prime Time Kennels." I am now the proud owner of M.A. Prime Time Slim Stretch better known to you as Boldstrokes Slim Stretch. (Sorry about the name change). Stretch is the best young dog I have ever owned and has earned his title as champion faster than any hound I have ever owned. Is there any way that I could get some of the young dogs out of Stretch? I am very interested in the Boldstrokes bloodline after owning this very tough hound. For any further questions about Stretch or his pups you can reachg me at: adamsptk@yahoo.com

Why would anyone change the name of a hound? Gill started the Boldstroke line and has put countless hours and money into it. Then you get lucky enough to get a dog from him, champion him ,call him the best young dog you have ever owned and then YOU take all the credit by putting your kennel name on him. Then you ask for another one????????
I don`t understand this way of thinking. I just think its sad.

Thanks very much guys for Simply caring enough for your dogs To give me the desire to make them as good as possible. cause its sure not for money!!!!! I know, I have lost thousands every year! Guys thats part of why my wife walked she said no-one appreciated what I've done.. And they'd die out like all in the past cause folks do change there inherrited lines name. said I waisted years!
You that knew Pat know she's no dumby- she figured out what we lost and it was alot.
We had many arguments with that subject and as you can or may see she is right. To a degree- but, I have met some real good folks that do care about all it took to bring them to be commonly good as they are.
I assure you it wasn't lack of work and time.
I have had the computer shut down a while. (now thats about money I don't have too.)
I want to say- The guys running these hounds have been so aggressive about the dogs they are seeing come from these dogs Well, it sure is hard to quit. My pay is there being so happy ONLY!
It is a lot of work to make sure things are right.. Slim always was a great pup. had three pups in his litter- Tom Bloomingdale owns Boldstrokes head Honchoe ,,Stretches brother Money couldn't buy him .. and I had the only gyp before the mother of Stretch was stolen off our farm.( loss is great in beagles & constent) When you work on it hard you'll take many losses. cars coyotes etc etc.. Jane could run in any weather when dogs couldn't finish the hard scenting lines in harsh weather she always showed them how. Stetches Dad is Boldstrokes two dogs Duelin- He is a very, very aggressive hound. Built to last and Hunts hard like his dad- He'd Champ out easy-But, I just paid to send Out the Reb an nice gyp hound and two pups & cassh. Boldstrokes Golden Musket. Boldstrokes Rebel all incredable hounds. Muskets Still Giving the young hound serious trouble and those in there prime often more dog than they care to run with going on ten years old and still running some down.
All the dogs here were AKC every one- but I switched mine to UKC- I like them better and they don't try to con you for more money all the time. You learn to see that the more you pay attention. I know more about breeding dogs than AKC .. Im not an order taker Im a professional breeder. ANd I don't care to try to keep dogs for anyone thats not a full fledged rabbit dog running type.
AKC has nothing to do with breeding- They do the same book keeping and use the same DNA profiles as UKC- from the exact same place! I've learned too much to be brainwashed.
I refuse to be told AKC is better cause I knew 1000 times more about breeding than the goof they had come here saying they raise show Yorkies. What do they run?
They tried to fine me even more money than I already spend for selfish gains when they saw three pups 12 weeks old play in my yard out of the same gyp! For not wearing different colered callers 100 a piece- I told them to stick it ! And she had no idea of what good breeding takes. I new this from the questions I asked her. She was here to make more money. She couldn't care about what it took She wanted to justifie her reason for being out there without care of anything but more money. Since she had that attitude- She lost my respect, and all the money I had always been sending them well over 40 years between my dad and myself more like 70.. I registered and recorded all AKC pedigree's and turrned My Entire line over to UKC same thing Yet better. not greedy. ANd they care about true hunting stock they even ask what the beagles are for. Beagles are made for the common hard working folks that want something real to hunt with- There is not enough made in the selling of many pups even to justifie all you should spend in time and money on this particuler breed . if you count your money spent your so far in the hole if you do it right- you'd be a fool to even try to raise beagles for cash. It has nothing to do with money. I do it for those that want something good and appreciate the time efforts, money I spent in time and expence and knowledge of the breed with respect, of the right way it takes to make them top performers over and over..
That means something to me cause I sure lost plenty. In some ways my own wife!! yea, I pay my due's
The happy folks is all I make. Is it worth it ? I'd have to say no- not if I think of all I paid and lost.
I don't know? if you give ten years joy to someone maybe the lose isn't so important. I sure like my lines owners.

To old to cut the mustard, you can always run beagles
there is no caparison between akc and ukc !!! ukc is grade dogs any dog can get registered with them !!!! take a ukc grand champion beagle and try to sell him your lucky to get $ 500.00 .. now take a dog that has a akc champion or a ckc champion and they start around $ 2500.00 and go up !!!! try to stud out a ukc dog and there aren't many people that will breed to him because of ukc papers , now do the same in akc - ckc and your phone will not stop ringing !!! try to sell pups with just ukc papers and you might as well knock the price in half over akc pups and most people will tell you they wont even buy them with just ukc papers !!!!!

what is a registry.
akc-ukc-nkc-pkc-arha- whatever. they are bookkeeepers. accountants. they are paid by us to keep records of matings. id wish theyd stick to their job.let breeders like gil do his job and bookeepers do theirs. i sent a set of papers in to akc. they kept my money 1 year. then refused to register. the breeder had been suspended for some stupid rule violation. i recently got a pup from another breeder in maine. guess what i cant get papers. so this is kind of a sore subject with me. like gil says what does akc know about breeding dogs. what business do they have telling him to put color coded collars on their pups. ? lot of noise and smoke over akc records. you say ukc dogs are grade. ive had some dogs that were grade and would run against 99% of all akc dogs and make them look sick. if akc dogs truly were superior there wouldnt be any of the other registries. dont put too much importance on papers. those akc papers dont make your dog any better or worse. reason that ukc dogs may appear better is because they are accepting grade dogs. reason grade dogs are better is because nobody ever kept a cull grade dog cause it was well bred. or out of good stuff or or goes back to old famous or any of these other BS lines ive heard. if akc dogs are superior maybe you should have open trials and compare. i used to hunt in competition coon hunts. best dogs i ever saw were in grade class. its simple nobody would put money into hauling a junk grade dog to a trial. gil idont believe in beating around the bush much and you blow it off that you dont need akc and you sure dont but they have really hurt you financially and you should get best lawyer you can find and sue them to death. all your dogs are worth less money with no akc papers. because theyre are so many people that think akc is better. i know that a set ofpapers doesnt make a dog worth anything. lot of people have it backwards. a good dog makes the papers worth looking at and any papers are only as good as the guy that did the breeding and reported it. pete
A regestry is only as good as the people that are in it, And if anyone does'nt think akc wont regester anything you are wrong. The reason akc is pushing dna is so they can set on there a-- and colect there money. It is coming to that believe me you will pay to have your dogs dna tested and if a problem pops up on one of your dogs you are going to pay again.honest people can sell dogs no matter how they are regestered, the word gets around. As far as i am concerened the best thing any regestry could do is push to have dogs certifide Rabbit hounds and it show on there papers. I know some do now but not all
