Three young dogs in trial finals saturday

Post by Woody65 »

I drove 2 1/2 hrs. sat. morning to attend hillbilly beagle club trial up north and felt like I had a chance to champion two big males out in open class, what I ran into was a gentleman and his son from oklahoma that brought three young dogs (I was told under 2) that were like buzzsaws in the brush. My male was whipped by a bluetick female that looked like a show champion until he let her go, she scored 150 or 180, second dog got 30 and third (my dog) got zero. They never had a chance to score, she was too fast and right on line with the rabbit. My second male went in the cast with his 14 month old tri-colored female that won her cast too, don't remember the score on her, my second male had zero again. . He had a male that was white and I was told he won his cast in the afternoon. Three young dogs in the finals with about 40 opens, I left and went home but I was told he placed all three in the top 7. I would like to talk to this man, I believe his name was Danny/Daniel Bowman from Oklahoma, would like to buy the bluetick or a pup from him. If you can help, let me know with the information, I wish I would have ask. Nice guys, great dogs. I got beat but still enjoyed myself, thanks Hillbilly Beagle Club, they have great running grounds and some friendly people. Woodrow Manning

Woody, that was as refreshing a post as I have read on here in a while.Sure is a pleasant change from the ones about crooked judges, buddy judging, or other complaining posts about some trial somewhere. It was nice to read about someone who happened to have the better dog for that particular day and giving credit where credit is due. Thanks for the great post.

Mr. Rhoades,
I looked up this man's name on the net and can not find his phone number in Oklahoma. Do you know if the bluetick would be for sale? She sure is a beautiful dog. Or, does he have some pups for sale out of her yet? I should have talked to him at the hunt about this but ran out of time and he was busy with his dogs.
Thank you pappy. Woodrow

Woody65,
Thank you for the kind words about my dogs! If I remember right you are the retired man that had the two 15" males and you said you started this as a hobby after retiring. I did enjoy our short conversation during the trialing.
My young dogs finished 4th, 6th and 7th and it was the semi-finals, the finals was two dogs for 1st and 2nd. My dogs just don't have enough power yet to win, there was some better dogs than mine there that day.
My bluetick female is not for sale, she is our favorite dog and a big baby! Just like LaMarr said, she is out of his champion dog O's Blue Belly. You said she looked like a show dog until I let her go, she has won on the bench. I do plan a litter of pups in the future but she will have to champion out before that happens. The other two young dogs are half-brother and sister out of TK's Rockhill Rambler (Turbo) owned by Tony Kildow and Rambler is a little pack grand, Tony lives in your state (northern part) and he may have some puppy for sale.
I do thank you again for the kind words and good luck on finishing your dogs out  dboman
Let's go run them!!!

db215,
I pm you my phone number if and when you decide to breed her, would like a chance at a pup out of her. I figured she was not going to be for sale, I could tell you like her. I don't know about lack of power, the two I seen looked sharp Saturday, looks like you expose them to rabbits alot! I agree, there was some good dogs there and the people all were nice. Yes, I'm enjoying my retirement, getting ready to go run now. Maybe we'll see you at another trial sometime or maybe we can get together and run in the future. God bless. Woodrow
