Today is a very sad day for my wife and I. I found our old dog Steel had died sometime this morning. He was laying there curled up like he was asleep. I found him this afternoon while feeding the other dogs. Steel was a special dog to me, we kinda came up together and we went through a lot of stuff together and traveled many a mile together. He also kept me out of a lot of trouble. I knew this day was gonna come, but I really didnt want to admit it. I can remember back to the good old days, where he won back to back hound of the year and the local beagle club in '98 & '99. He was a little dog, but he didnt know that, he ran like he was a big dog, no fear of anything. His last couple of years was just spent here running loose on the farm. I dont mean to ramble but he was like my buddy. He stayed with me no matter how rough it got.
I'm sure he's joined that powerpack in heaven. Rest in peace old friend.

Chad,
Sorry to hear about your lost. It is tough to see the one's we cherish the most, go. And yes, these little hounds can do so much more than what we realize. Enjoy them while they are here. Sorry again.

Thanks guys, its gonna be hard not to think of that ol dog when I get home from work, because he always met me in the driveway cause he knew it was feeding time. Maybe one of these old potlickers I got can step up and take his place.

Chad,
I know it won't be the same when I pull up in the driveway to go running next time. I always looked forward to giving him a little pat on the head and giving you a hard time about not ever taking him with us or never getting him a little lady friend to make little Steel's with. I know you'll miss him. He was a good one for sure.
