Is there such thing as the rabbits not moving, or rabbits not out? I know when coon hunting that the coons aren't always out or not always moving. Is it true about rabbits too?? Or is this just a tale?

I beleive that rabbits are out more than other times. Somedays they sit tighter and somedays it don't take much to get them up. I have hunted places with a good number of rabbits. Somedays you can jump 5 to 8 rabbits and somedays you are lucky to jump 1 or 2.

I have rabbits all around my property under brush piles on a bank that I maintain for them and under the sheds and such. I have seen when we get powdery snow that it is hard for them to move on they will sit under the brush for up to a week at a time. Other times they will sit out and just not move unless you almost step on them. I think it depends on several things including the moon phases and weather conditions.

a guy at work told me to hunt this piece of state land he said he seen lots of rabbits while deer hunting. I waited for a new snow, and went out hunting it, this was 3 days after the new snow. I couln't even find one rabbit track in the snow after 3hrs of hunting. I told him about this the next day. He told me to go deeper in the woods, saying thats were the rabbit were. I went back a week later with no snow on the ground with a plan to hunt deeper in the woods. while heding back to the spot my dogs jumped and ran 3 rabbits in the same area that had no rabbit tracks with the snow, I ended up getting 1 there and 2-5 in the back, 3 kills total.

I have a spot that I hunt that is loaded with rabbits. You cant take a step in there without stepping on tracks or rabbit droppings. Sometimes I can go in there and see rabbits everywhere. Other times its hard to get a jump. Its the age old mystery. As rabbit hunters were still trying to solve the mystery as to what makes for good scenting conditions and what makes for good hunting days as far as seeing game. When someone solves the mystery please let us know.

Jovan,
You mentioned Marsh Creek, what's the name of the town you live in, it may be near me, however I'm sure Marsh Creek is a popular name.
