Hello, I have a female that i bred March 29th and was wanting to know if it was safe to worm her while she was pregnant?I worm once a month and its time to worm again but really dont know about this since its my 1st litter. Any advice appreciated.

I would caution against worming a pregnant bith. If she has been on a regular worming schedule, and has not been exposed to worms from another dog, or from eating rabbits, she should be OK, until after the pups are born. I am no expert on this, but I try to avoid giving any medication to a pregnant bitch.

I just had my pregnant bitch in to the vet for a quick checkup before she delivers. My vet wormed her, approx, two weeks before due date. I've always wormed before delivery. Just don't administer 7-way shots before birth, ie., parvo, etc. Wait until pups are born first. But to the best of my knowledge, and from what my vet says, worm before birth. If in doubt, ask your vet.

Interceptor is safe to give during pregnancy and it's also a wormer, so I'd say it's ok - depending on what kind of wormer you use. Y'all know I don't like ivermectin but I realize many folks use it and always will. Pregancy is the one time I'd definitely say "don't use ivermectin". Check with your vet first to see which ones are safe.

I have never stoped with my monthly worming with a pregnant female. Interceptor states that they have tested pregnant females but they do not say that it is unsafe in any way. They do state that you should have your female seen and tested by a vet before starting any dog on Interceptor. I also have my females given thier 7 way shots at the beginning of thier pregnancy. This is something that is gemerally recommended.

Good point Stone Cold, I neglected to clarify for females already on the Interceptor regimen. They do need to be seen before starting on it.
