I've run both with my dogs, and they don't seem to have any problem running either.

I run both with my dogs ,the swamp rabbits make a lot bigger circles, and are easier to run when the weather is as dry as it has been this season.

i run both and don't see much difference other than a swamper likes water and will use it to his advantage and will run the tops of logs sometimes.

Running Canecutters with fast dogs causes them to run wide open with their heads up like running a fox. It makes them run a little too wide in the check area and are sloppy for Cottontails if you don't run Cottontails for a while.

Totally Cottontail dogs usually don't keep circling and reaching out in an ever widening check far enough, especially if there is a lot of water moving and will not pick up the wide checks. Some simply hang up at water caused checks.

It's good to alternate often.
