getting my female fixed

Post by ridgerunner »

I told a friend of mine I was going to get my female fixed after this hunting season. He asked me if it would affect her hunting ability afterwards, I said I don't know. Does anyone think it would?

No it shouldn't affect her hunting at all. She may gain a little weight.

My dogs were spayed at 2 years or there abouts. Today at 4 and 11 they caught and killed a rabbit. They aren't fat and sleep under my down duvet. They love to hunt and sleep on the couch. My dead dog was hunting up until a month before she died at 12.5 years- fox no less. She was spayed at 3 years. She was thin too. If your dog is used to hunting now, she will keep on hunting for you.

I have had a couple of females fixed. Their hunting was the same. Every dog that I have seen that was fixed was more likely to put on extra wieght. But as long as you control thier diet they should be fine.
Lets put em where it counts under the gun

If he keeps hunting her hard, it will have no effect. If he lays her up, he may consider feeding her less or use a diet mix of dog food.
