I have had paint on my beagle and it might take a couple of months to wear off. Of course, that will depend on the kind of paint used.

Break fluid works great and does no harm to the dog

treybird, I'm pretty sure it will come back in. I've had this happen to me before and it's grown back in. What usually happens to me is that whoever is in charge of stirring the paint at the trial, puts paint thinner in it because the lid was never put on properly after the last trial. The thinner reacts really harshly with one of my hounds. I always ask now. As for removing paint, a lot of guys here used to use brake fluid but then found out it was extremely toxic on their beagles. ( I believe it caused liver or kidney damage)

If you look in Beagles Canada bulletin board there should be a thread about removing paint. I used baby oil, some used orange peel stuff. Whole bunch of suggestions at other site. If you can't find it, moderator would help you out. Paint should come off as soon as possible because it is toxic no matter what you are told. Hair will grow back eventually. Carolyn
