Just curious what is the best dog that you've seen run, what breeding, speed and style? What could this dog do that others couldn't? Mike

About 21 years ago my old man gave me a Grade female that could do it real well. She was ugly, and She could have used a tad more speed, but she jumped every rabbit in the woods, and seldom would one fool her enough to lose it for good.I would give anything to have her now.

Branko's Hard Rock. I seen him run @ 13 years old and he was lightning fast and clean and just plain awesome. He was finished in AKC Mid-West.
Can't tell you who he is out of though.

I have to say a dog named Bo steve setters owned him when he died he had 13 wins in the champ class and was a jump machine. was one of the top dogs in arha PP.

Never got to see her run but heard thousands of stories of how good she is.

FC Indian Hills Princess. Flat out awesome at 11 yrs old.

Burleighs Dan belonged to Burleigh Davis, a now deceased, friend of mine. He was Gay bred and the bitch line went back to Pearson Creek. He could do it all. He was a great jump dog and on the hard runs when the rest of the pack over ran, you would quickly hear Dan bawl and the other dogs would immediately head back to Dan. Once I was hunting with a group for friends and several I had never hunted with, I had taken a bitch that was intimidated with all the strange people. As I walked along a rabbit jumped up. I was trying to get the bithch to tally ho but she refused to run. Then Dan jumped another rabbit. The pack circled this rabbit for a couple of circles before someone shot it. I would guess fifteen to twenty minutes passed since I jumped the first rabbit. I hollered for Dan and yelled talley ho. I told one of the strangers that I was going to try to put Dan on the old line. He looked at me in dis belief. Dan came over and put his nose where I was pointing. He trailed slowly in silence for about a hundred yards then I heard him bawl. The race was on.

A little grade female I had for many years back 30 yrs. ago. I never seen a better strike, jump, and track hound than her. I bagged many a rabbit back then with her.

The best dog I have seen is a grade dog we own. His name is Big Boy. He did everything you wanted in a beagle jumped every rabbit in the woods. was a great track dog. We still have him. He is retired now at the age of 18. I can't count the numbers of rabbits killed over him.

do you notice a theme with the replies on this. I have the same story, a grade female I had when I was young, she could do it all. I think, the longer a great hound has been dead, the better they were when we remember. I cant recall the rabbits this dog of mine lost, but I tend to remember most of the great runs.

Any dog that can run no matter how bad the conditions are impresses me.

I have only seen a few of those.

I have never seen an entire line of dogs that could run in any conditions.

Not yet any ways.

MINE IS THE SAME STORY, A GRADE MALE I OWNED IN THE EARLY 70'S
HE WOULD MAKE YOU THROW YOUR HAT ON THE GROUND & ROOT FOR THE RABBIT NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER CONDITIONS. PRETTY DOG, JUMP DOG DELUX, FINE LOUD MOUTH & STRIGHT AS A STRING. HE WAS FAST ENOUGH TO CATCH A RABBIT & DID SEVERAL TIMES. HE WAS THE BEST I EVER EXPECT TO OWN. I CALLED HIM TUTOR BECAUSE HE SURE GAVE LESSONS IN THE FIELD.

Stinetime Ivy.... 11 1/2 bitch ACK registered and can flat out smoke a rabbit to this day. It doesn't matter the conditions she can run a rabbit and run it right. Simply put the best hunting dog I have ever hunted behind for sure...

FC Rock Hard Lacie

She was only 2 years old and passed away recently with a disease similar to lung cancer. She was super fast and could handle the line with ease. I've watched her run on many occassion and I've never seen one better. Standing at only about 12 1/2 to 12 3/4 max and the fact she was running with lung cancer is unbelievable. She had 6 wins 1 second and 1 fourth this year so far in the mid-west association and she to my knowledge has won every derby and qualifing trial.

She could also do it under the gun. I was privileged enough to be one of the last people to hunt with her. Took a trip down to Western Kentucky and hunted for 2 days straight and I had a blast.

Truly one of the best I've have ever hunted with.
