Got a little side tracked with all those Roosters flushing!!! But we did find time to run the Beagles! This first picture is of myself on top of a ridge enjoying the hound music echoing in these hills! That was awsome! We hunted 2-1/2 hours and bagged 8 rabbits, and had non stop running!

This next photo is of the hunt results. The guy on the right is my good friend Ace Lockridge.

I had to include this picture of Ace and myself bird hunting because I had just stole both these birds from Ace. I shot them before he could get a shot off, even though he jumped them. It was pretty funny!

And finally here is the days end results of a bird hunt.

We had a blast!!!

You guys in Iowa sure have something going for you! It is God's country indeed! I suppose each State I've hunted in has a unique aspect about it. I loved coonhunting in south west Ohio, and in Iowa! We also have a lot of game up here in Michigan! But the one thing I'll never forget about Iowa, are the plentiful Roosters and all the monster BUCKS that we saw!
We never hunted rabbits on the east side of the state but I have to admit it looked better than the bird cover we hunted on the west side! Do you guys on the east side have many birds?

Yeah we got a pretty good bird population here, but I think it's just a little better in western Iowa, more flat lands. Excellent rabbit and whitetail pop. also. They are having special hunts this year to try and thin the heards down. Next time you come through this way, drop a line, I just live 20 miles off of I-80.

Spado,
Will do! We drove down 80 and got off right there at Cedar Rapids and went north to 20. Then took 20 west all the way to the west side! Probably drove pretty close to you.

Iowa has to be one of the top states for upland hunting I have seen so many roosters in one feild I could not count them all & ran rabbit allday long to the point of it becomming a endurance test for man & dogs I have never killed a deer in my life but I have had countless chances to do so & I mean nice bucks I just gave a friend three fresh killed rabbit for a bag of crapies they have been catching 11-14 inch crapies all month so even the fishing is good. Iowa is GODS county for anyone who loves the land & what it has to offer. You will not find New York city or the like of it but you will find what we call GODs country & plenty of great hunting & fishing I am glad you enjoyed your self while you where here.

TBB37,
Nope! We accually put the beagles away, when we found more birds than rabbits. We bird hunted for two days, this photo being of one days hunt. Then we accually traveled about 20 miles to better rabbit country, for the rabbit hunt. If you look at the photos in the fields, you'll see a difference!
