Pros and Cons of the Tracker Classic.....well from personal experience and feedback from customers I can tell you this. The Classic is similar to the Maxima in its tracking ability. The range is based mainly on battery life in the box (9volt) and collars (3.6 v Lithium). Keep them fresh and you will get maximum range. What is maximum range??? That again is based on individual terrain that each of us hunt in. These units are rated for up to 12 miles depending on terrain.......I have found that "checking" on the dogs regularly with the Classic is the best way to keep them in "range"....hunt with your dogs and move with them as they move. I think customers are happy with their choice of the Tracker Classic. The main reason these units are so popular is the size....they are very easy to carry and can be taken out of the case, antennas opened and start tracking your dog in seconds....yes seconds.
The cons of this unit and I believe there is only one....is the range compared to the 3 element Yagi antenna......obviously the Yagi is much larger....obviously the Yagi will out range the small Tracker. But if you check your dogs regularly with the Tracker you will always bring your dog home.

**And yes, I forgot to mention, the Classic single will only track the ONE freq collar it is programmed for and the double will track TWO collars it is programmed for.

Pros: Very compact, affordable ( compared to the maxima ), great customer service and it will help bring your dog home.

Cons: Will only track the collar or collars it comes with.

I think you can send it back and get the upgrade to the two dog. The cheapest place to buy a classic is on EBAY.
