When is someone a dog jocky?
I was just wondering what everybody thought about this. I see some people on here that seem like they are selling an adult dog every other week. I can understand pups, but I'm talking about grown, already running, supposedly, dogs. They've got this blood line, and they handle real well, they run this style, they're no cull, and I've got to thin my numbers down. A few instances like this I can believe, but there are some people that are going through dogs like paper plates. I'm not going to mention any names,,,,,,,,,,, that's not what this is about,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but when does someone cross over to being considered a dog jocky.
You can teach an idiot how to get on the internet, how to find websites, and how to post on boards, but in the end, they're still an idiot.
dog jockeys
lol Crew Chief, grown hound mills, I agree with what Midwest is saying, but I think everyone can see for themselves who the ( jockeys ) are. I made a funny post on here about a LIVE DOG for sale, I was making fun of some of the Jockeys. I only have 1 adult dog for sale and I cant seem to move him, I dont see how some of these guys move the number of dogs that they put up for sale here. Wish I knew the secret to selling. Tom Clouse

Some people just have a good eye for dogs and some don't. Some folks are just in it for the money too. I don't see a problem with someone selling "Quality dogs" even if he buys them from one and sells them to another. One mans trash is another mans treasure. Not to mention, some folks just give up on a dog too fast and an experienced trainer is able to work some hounds through thier issues. Lets also take into acount the breeder that keeps the entire litter to sort them for the hounds that will work best for his pack. At some point, the trained dogs that may not fit into the breeders pack for one reason or another will be sold. Nothing wrong with moving these dogs.
What I DO have a problem with are the folks that knowingly sell you junk just to make a quick buck but AGAIN, one mans trash is another mans treasure. I have a friend that lives up in NJ that purchased several dogs online a while back. NOT ONE of these dogs were as they were represented to be. This fella really got a bad taste in his mouth for buying a hound online. He came down to a fun run and was loaded up and sent home with several dogs ranging from free to a couple hundred bucks. He will tell you the worst dog he got was better than any dog he purchased online. This is a shame too. This is partially his fault for taking someones word about their dogs and not seeing them run first, but partially the seller's faults for misrepresenting the hounds.
The same goes for folks that advertise online, misrepresent their hounds and have someone drive several hundred miles to only find out the hound is not what it was said to be. One bad experience like that will make a buyer real gunshy about driving that far again to see a dog. There are a lot of quality hounds that just sound too good to be true that ARE for sale and are the REAL DEAL but are over looked just because it SOUNDS too good to be true the buyers are so gunshy and with good reason!
The fact is, some folks can live with faults that others can't. I don't like a dog that charges the front as a rule or is over competitive and will cheat to get rabbit!! BUT, others will compete these same dogs I don't like and make them champions on one format or another and call them smart rabbit dogs. I don't like a dog that has extra mouth, but other folks don't mind this if they can get a rabbit in the pot and that dog can run a good rabbit. I also don't like a dog that won't hunt a lick even if it can get in the race and dominate once the rabbit is up. The next man may have some hard hunting dogs but needs a good check dog. I am not knocking any style of dog when I say this, but just making the point that if I know this dog has extra mouth, little or no hunt, or is overly competitive and only likes the front. I also have a standard for conformation. If the hound doesn't meet my minimum standard I won't go look at it. Saves me and the seller time and money if the faults and plus's are disclosed up front. On the other hand, if I were LOOKING for this kind of dog or didn't mind these faults or styles, it might be worth my while to go check it out.
To me, a "Dog Jockey" is one that will tell you anything to sell a dog. A "High Volume seller" is just that, a fella that sells a lot of dogs but the dogs are what they are said to be. I don't have a clue who you are refering to in the above post so i am not promoting them or slamming them. This is just my opinion on the matter.

ill be the first to tell you i sell alot of hounds i dont do it for the money,,,,i have found many of guys good dogs,,,,,,,,again i have sold alot of good hounds,,,,,,i dont trial i strictly gun hunt,,,,,,,,,im not into a screaming hound that cheats to get to the front,,,,,,if it dont fit my pack it will fit somebody elses,,,,,,,,,and my dogs will be like i say,,,,,,danny,,,,,,come down i will give you an application,,,,,,,,so i guess what im saying here is i dont know who this post is pointed toward but ill still get sleep at night,,,,,,
ANYONE that sells dogs as fast as I change my underwear is a Jockey as thats what it says on the label on the back of my shorts. I normally don't have them on long enough to tell you how they fit me and that's the same way it has to be with them changing dogs as fast as they do. The most I see them is when I'm looking at that label as they go into the dirty cloths hamper after I've ran in them all day. Oh yeah, I about forgot, if the shorts fit wear them.
houndsound,, My vet told me when I brought in the 4th pup that one more and I need a county permit!! Guess thats kinda like a license, but I got too tell you guys my beagles are way too small to ride!! I feel left out here, I just knew I should of bought 15" ers.. Oh well glad this thread ain't turned into a mudslinger yet,, I HATE TOO ARGUE!!!!,, ya right!!!

That "Live Dog" post was a hoot Tom. Couldn't quit laughing about it.
If I remember correctly, you still owe me that hound.
Dog jockey.......hmmm?
Kinda like a used car salesman aren't they?
Never drove the car very far. Don't know how prior owner treated it. Don't care who buys it. Tell you anything you want to hear to sell it.
Same thing.............yes?

I am going to say this because it is on my brain, I didnt say anything out of the way or point a finger at anyone in particular. I said everyone knows who the dog jockeys are, now if this statement offends anyone then I would take a serious look at myself and see why it offends. I have always heard that the truth hurts and cuts to the bone and it does. I know and recognize that there are good guys and gals that will sell alot of dogs. Sometimes they get overwhelmed and need to get rid of a few. Everyone has to admit that we see people on here, that the last statement does not apply to. Now I have said what I thought and am willing to accept the results. I want everyone to know that I have beagles to hunt with, I love them and love messing around with them. I dont like people telling untruths about beagles just to sell them, I have a male for sale that I will let someone take and run on trial for 30 days. I dont think he is an awesome dog but he does get the job done. If interested let me know. Tom Clouse
