At what age is it safe to start giving a puppy ivomec? I've waited until 6 mo. in the past and wanted to see if would hurt anything to start at about 16 weeks.
THanks,
Pete

I just started Ruckus on it and he was 16 1/2 weeks. He tolerated it well.

I just treated a litter of six for demodetic mange, starting at about eight weeks of age. They are now twelve weeks old and are as slick and shiney as any pups I have seen. I gave them 1/10 cc per ten pounds body weight every day for about fourteen days. After two weeks three of the litter were cured. I continued the treatment for the other three for one more week. They all seem to be fine. Three of them are tracking a San Juan all over the starting pen so I know it didn't affect their nose, mouth, or running ability.

I’ve been using Ivermec since 1985. I have several veterinarian friends that told me I could start as soon as pups are weaned.

I'm like Keystone Kid, I've been using it for 20 something years and it's very safe for a 6 week old pup.

I too just treated a grown dog for the Red Mange, He got 3/10th cc for the last 60 days. He looked awful when I got him now he's slick as a button.

Vets says it's on of the safest drugs on the market.
