New feed coming here called Pride. What do you think abiout it? Where is it made and by who? How do your dogs do on it?
This is not Sportsman Pride, we already have that and its made here.

You are lucky John.

I emailed the sales rep a couple of months ago and he said there were no dealers anywhere close to me. I told him there was a market up this way but apparently he's starting south! lol

If you try it, let me know how it is. Might be worth the drive to PInson to get a truck load every few months.

John, I fed Pride feeds for a couple of years, switched to Diamond and then switched back to Pride. My hounds have done very well on Pride feeds. The Pride 26/18 is as good of food as I have ever fed, dogs looked slick and healthy and had energy to spare. During the warmer summer months when running time gets cut back because of the heat, I switch to Pride Maintenance formula 22/10. I can buy two 50# bags of Pride Maintenance for what I was paying for 1 bag of Diamond Maintenance also, which is always a plus. Soon as cooler weather arrives and I start back running the hounds a little harder, I'll switch back to the Pride 26/18.

Pride is made by Hyland Feed Co out of KY if I'm not mistaken. Here is their website addy:

The only Pride feed I didnt really care for was the 24/20 Pride. The feed pellets were tiny and my hounds didnt seem to like the food too well. Other than that, I'm very pleased with Pride feed. :)

Thanks folks!
Dealer that is local is just asking around to see if there is any interest.
I'll report back there is. Hopefully they can make a deal.
How's the poop and stink? Amazing how some poop stinks and some doesn't isn't it!
I'm feeding Black Gold 26/18 dogs doing good on it and poop is pretty firm, but lots of volume.

John,
I've been trying several feeds since Diamond went bad. I switched to Hi-Standard 23/16 and my dogs snapped back from their poor condition while on Diamond. I have tried a bag of the Pride 26/18 and liked it real well although I don't feed such a high protein. I'm now trying a bag of the 22/10 and my dogs seem to be doing well on it too. The stools from both brands were firm and a lot less than with the Diamond. I have found no excessive stool odor from either Hi-Standard or the pride. I'll tell you one thing for sure the Pride smells good enough to eat yourself and is fresh. I'm wanting to try the 24/20 as that's all the protein I want to feed and I think the fat should be able to sustain them during the winter or while being run hard. I haven't been able to find the 24/20 close by yet but when I do I'll try it. I also think that dogs are like people and respond to different feeds differently so I'm only telling you what I've noticed in my three hounds that I'm feeding it to.

The blue bag had them wired up, had to switch when the running stopped. We're feeding the white and the green bag now, white for those who put it on easy, white mix green for those normal, and green for bitches milking and pups... The mixing has kept our cost average the same...

John, did you bitch have pups?
We got a couple. Have went to pouring AllStar milk replacer on the bitches feed and they have really taken to it. It's smells really sweet milk and the bitches are eatting good and drinking the milk even in this heat, so the pups are doing real well. Before, the heat had the bitches about to stop eatting and I was worried about if the milk would keep up. This AllStar is good stuff and comes in a plastic bucket just the right size to pick berries in...lol...stay cool ;)

Patch
she is been bred for two weeks. Pups due the 14th of Sept.
She is long and muscular so I don't expect her to show til late in the pregnancy if she took.
Milk replacement is a good idea and I used to use it also, called Calf Manna. I found when I did, the pups were larger and turned into larger dogs.
Hope you have good luck with yours. That male in the magazine sure is a good looking lemon dog.

I looked in up on the website and didn't like that the second ingredient was ground yellow corn. One of the hardest things for a dog to digest and has no value. We feed Blackgold after using Diamond. To me there is no comprasion. Less and firm stool. Dogs with shinny coats and feed only one cup per day per dog. I don't know the cost of the food you are talking about but I get a half ton of Blackgold for $302.00. I say if you are satisfied with a feed, feed it.

I started my pups out on OL'ROY from wal-mart because it was cheap (7.50 for a big bag of puppy feed) but started changing it out for Diamond Puppy feed since I can't get Black Gold in my area. Diamond does cost twice as much but they have cut there stool in half. Money doesn't grow on trees but with 3 dogs it is worth it for me.

tommyg I am sorry I don't see that dog food list under Pride's feed. http://www.thepridedogfood.com/feeds/index.htm Is there more than one company with the Pride name?

Don't know if its on there site yet. The 26-20 is a orange bag and the 21-17 is white because when the guy I buy it from got it the bag wasn't done yet and they had to bag it in a white sack. Its called Professional Blend,Chicken and Rice. Its real good feed,my hounds run cool on it and hardly drink in warm weather.
