blood dripping from nose!

I have a four month old that has shots and wormings up to date. Yesterday evening he was'nt running and playing around like he usually does but he was still waging his tail, and a little active. I just noticed some blood dripping from his nose. I also got him on cedar bedding. Please help!

some people have had trouble with pups or hounds on cedar bedding. irritates the membranes in the nose.

Thanks, I took the cadar out and replaced it with straw. Fed him, he eats and drinks fairly well. Could I rule out Parvo?

blood come out the other end with parvo...

get a digital thermometer, cost about 5 bucks, check his temperature in the rectum. should be running a fever if he has parvo. usually will be vomiting and having diarreah with parvo and not eating well.

the digital thermometers will vary. 100 to 102 should be normal for a hound. call your vet to be sure that is correct. make sure not to use a glass thermometer. breaks to easy.

most of my hounds will read 99.8 to 101 which is within the normal range, but they all vary. the digital thermometers will vary also. i just read on a health site for dogs the normal temps would be 99.5 to 102.5, but i would stick to whatever your vet tells you.

Rat and mouse dope causes free bleeding. Make sure he's where he can't get to any or the little critters that do...

He seems to be doing alot better I gave him a can a food and some gatorade oh yeah and a steak bone. I'm almost sure it was the cedar bedding though. Still sneezing but no blood. Thanks!!

If cedar chips are the problem, has anyone ever thought of a couple quick shots of cedar oil onto the straw from a spray (mist) bottle. Maybe this would provide the best of both worlds?

Just paint oil on the floor and walls and let soak into the cracks, this will kill fleas, don't need no bedding this time of year...
