Talk The Talk or Walk The Walk ?
Here's a little survey.
Do you spend more time in the woods running dogs or on the computer talking about running dogs? I like this board, but there are a lot of good bull shooters on here....lol

Well... I'm guessing if you trial your dogs the answer to that is revealed for all to see.
The proof is in the pudding.
I guess that just leaves the ones that say they do but can't really support it one way or the other. My bet is no one is going to say they make it all up. On the other hand I know there's some darn good handlers that don't post much at all.

running
I am at work when i do all of my posting and rarely ever turn on the computer at the house. Right now I am not running much of anything as it is just too hot. You have to laugh at some of what you hear on the board. The "little pack/mid west dogs" that run for two hours check free, the dogs that catch a rabbit everytime they go out. The dogs that pound rabbits for hours in 100 degree temps. Somehow when I go to trials I always seem to miss these dogs.(LOL) I guess I have just been lucky enough not to ever draw out with any of them.

I'm like Big Dog, I'm at work sneaking around on the computer.
I don't run dogs much this time of year, to dang hot. Been 85 at night around here lately and humid. I'm waiting for September.

I'm a dog runner that happens to like getting on the computer a lot too.
Fall, winter and early spring I like to run the dogs and then get on here and talk about it. Right now I like to talk about running the dogs and then get off of here and go to bed.

running
I just got done running my hounds and thought I would get on here and let a couple of fellow beaglers know how they did. It rained and the cool front moved in and the senting conditions must have been good cause my 2 chow hounds somehow ran pretty good. I solo'd my male dog and he circled a small rabbit like he was hungry to eat it. I was very pleased with him. Cannon Hollow, I got word from Kevin Gross that the littermate female I have to yours is very game and doin good. He said he was gonna have to let her rest a couple of days because she has been burning it up. He says she started quicker than my older female, she surprised me on that because I thought Pepper was gonna be the quicker of the 2. Holler at me on my e-mail, by the way Bopeye, I got on the lease today, thats where I went running. Call me tomorrow, Tom C.

Been doing lots of running since school let out and work the new job has not started yet. With the heat we run at night or early mornings till it gets REAL hot. Have had the hounds out four days a week on average and so far over the past week have gone six days straight, running four to five hours each time. Hounds are lean and mean right now and burning the bunnies up. I have even made long distance phone calls to Ohio from the woods to give my buddy Paul wake up calls to the hounds slamming rabbits. GOOD TIMES!!!

Well I try to run a hound or two 3 or 4 days a week, weather permiting. But as yet I haven't done any trialing as a participant.Been to several UKC trials as a spectator though. Had a good time with them fellers and will probably try one out sometime. As far as this boob tube..lol..I try to log on for a while each evening to see who's tellin' the biggest lies..LOL..j/k...
Tom, I'm real glad to hear that about your little female. Her sister is the same way. She would rather chase rabbits than eat..lol.. and she has ate a couple half grown rabbits too..lol..I was a little concerned when I first got her, she was just a little timid. But she got over that in a short time. It's amazing what a pocket full of biscuts will do to get a puppy to be yer best buddy. talk to ya later..... CHH

Mike, hey it was nice to meet you too, sure wish I could have stayed for that pig roast but we had a long drive to get home. James is tickled with the pup, he is a real looker and bold as well.
Pat, you called it buddy, I can't wait to get that pup home and see her run. I am sure glad things went the way they did, would have missed out on a good dog. Bonnie was a little timid too, but the kids took care of that, nothing like a kid to play with a pup to get them over being scared of people. Talk at you later, Tom

I think right now it's half and half,
Last Saturday we got an inch of rain and the running was great for two days, (I went out twice Saturday, morning and night), Sunday night from 9 to 12 midnight and had some good runs. Monday night it was dry again and the running was just fair, 10 to midnight and the best run was 30 mins. Went out last night (Thursday) from 9 to 12:30 am and it was very bad, ran 5 rabbits, seen two of them and the best run lasted 15 mins. (very sorry show). Seems the dogs hit a spot and take off just fine and then the next spot it's work, work, work to move 100 feet and then maybe hit another good spot, I think part of it is whether there is any dew on the ground right there or not. There is one thing for sure we have done and that is find rabbits every night in my one acre clover patch that I planted early this spring right in the middle of a hundred acres and it's growing very good, I've had to mow it three times this year. I'm told next year will be better than this year. Good luck to all on their running.
