You Get What You Pay For
This is Jeremy and I believe that you get what you pay for. People out there gripe about the price you put on some dogs. To me a dog is only as much as you pay for it. Like me, you will probably not see me sell a dog for cheap. I will not sell a dog that can't win or that does not have a lot of potential. That looks bad on me and on my kennel. I have sold a few dogs in the three years I have been in it but you just ask anybody that has a dog that i owned, they will tell you that they came right on to lead there pack. Maybe to some people they weren't worth what I was asking But to some people they are worth more. You get What You Pay For! Please reply and say if that is Fact or Fiction. Patterson I expect for you to reply and voiles you also. Hubertskennel

I belive that over all dogs pricing has gotten out of hand. I think if a dog is over lets say 700.00 or 800.00 he needs to be a akc field champion or placed high in a big five hunt in arha. I have seen dogs that someone has spent a small fortune on get destroyed by a grade dog that someone bought for 100.00. I have a male here at my house that i have around 400.00 in that i would put on the ground against anything.I guess what i am saying is with a big price alot of times you are just getting a average decent dog with a big name on the other end of the lead strap or a long pedigree that stays at home when go running. Dont get me wrong i like a good bred dog but i have learned over the years that pedigrees dont run rabbits but if the dog a guy wants is priced real and he has the money buy it you cant take it with you anyway. But if at the next trail he gets beat by joe blows 100.00 grade dog dont start crying i have been cheated.just my 2 cents worth.

Price of hunting dogs
I kind of get a kick out of listening to some fellows carryon about the price of beagles and how it's so high and they're not worth it.
Give me a break! Beagles are the cheapest hunting dogs, generally speaking, that you can buy.
Don't think so? Go price a good coonhound, retriever, pointing dog or even a top squirrel dog. Here in middle Tn. I can show you several top squirrel dogs for sale anywhere from $850.00 to $3000.00 and THEY ARE getting it!!! What makes squirrel dogs worth big money but a beagle is looked down on? It's not like a ton of people are eating squirrels these days or selling pelts. LOL

Home of a true hunting beagle that run to catch

"Watch your dog and SHUT-UP"
Shady grove tell me about it Beagles are the cheapest on the market. I know of some coonhounds that have been sold for $20,000 dollars. I know of another the guy was offered $50,000 for and turned it down but that dog has already wone $54,000. The reason for that though is the money in it You look at the top money making coonhounds the top is over $100,000 that has been won. A good broke pleasure hound can cost @ $3,000. I can live with the price of a good broke beagle compared to these prices. I own coonhounds but have never bought a fully broke one I have bought started ones for the price of a broke beagle and pups which are ussually around the price of a good bread beagle pup $250.00.
In my opinion noone is forcing you to buy it so why complain. If you don't like the price on it then don't get it take you chances on a cheaper dog or pup.

Don't bring the innocent into this. There are only a couple of reasons why people sell dogs for so high. Either their ped is good or they need money or space. I don't see people selling thier dog if they are as good as they say they are. I believe a lot of people put outrageous prices on dogs just to see if an idiot will buy it. Maybe the buyer has lack of experience and does not know what a good beagle is. So really, not all the time, you don't get what you pay for.
True Blue or nothing.
Well guys I'll say I have to agree with Checkmate kennels and DarrinG. I've been around hounds my entire life coonhunted and belonged to the Odin Outdoor club where they have a NKC squirrel Championship every year. I've had numerous squirrel hunting cast right here on my place and have yet to see too many I'd own let alone at the price they put on them. I've had numerous good but not great coonhounds in my years and have competed with some top dogs. What I found in numerous coon hunts that the handler was way better than the dog...Nuff said...Now as far as beagles go we've tried several $800.00 dollar dogs and we've yet to see one. I had a male here that I bought for $250.00 from a Beagle Farm in IL. that I'd have put down with anybodies dog that ran his style. He was one of the best we have owned. I've never competition hunted beagles but the titles and the dollars is what drives the prices on the coonhounds and I've yet to read about any beagles winning the kind of money that they do in PKC coonhunts. A beagle has always been a pleasure dog for me and I've found a lot of pleasure watching them run a rabbit to the gun. I've never owned or hunted any hound to put a dollar value on it although I have raised some pups and sold a few that we didn't keep. As I said I've had plenty of good hounds in my time but I've never laid eyes on a $1700.00 beagle let alone own one and there's another side to that story...I NEVER will.
I once heard a story from a guy. Someone called him about buying a beagle. He said I have a good one here I'll let go for $250. The caller asked if he had anything better. He said sure, I've got one here I'll sell for $800. The caller came down and bought the $800 dog. The great part about this story is the guy priced the same dog. It's all about perceived value. Why do coonhounds, bird dogs, and squirrel dogs sell for so much, cause someone will pay it.
Personally I haven't, and probably won't ever buy a dog over $500.

Getting what you pay for
I bought a dog of of jeremy. Yes I paid what some people would consider a lot of money for a dog with no titles. I have owned this male (roust em out ranger) for 9 months now. He is truly a great hound. I did work with him a little to get him to handle exactly like I like. But that is just a difference in the way people prefer for there dogs to handle, and it didn't take much. I have thought about selling him a few times just because I didn't train him. But every time I think about it I change my mind. I believe that some people over price thier dogs but if you know what you are looking for you will be able to tell if the dog is worth it or not. I don't have a problem paying good money for a dog I like. And i will do it again if I like what I see. As far as ranger who is a littermate to jeremy's prized outlaw dog he will die in my kennel. I looked long and hard for a dog to rebuild my Kennel around and he is it

See you all I believe are looking at it in a pleasure hunting situation. Look at it in a competetion hunters prospective. This hound hunts good is accuarate Good on track and can work the game good or in coonhounds is a good track and tree dog. If you have a good male dog that can win the hunts and is bread right. He will bring in more than you will pay. I for one will get written agreement made up to try the dog for x amount of days Because any given day or night the hound can be the best you've ever seen but you get it home and 90% of the time it is junk. Coonhounds bring so much money because of the money they can win in the PKC hunts and now the AKC hunts also. plus stud fees One of the top Black and tan stud dogs was bread 29 times last year from september to january @ $200 a pop thats almost $6000 in 4 months.
