Front dew claws

Post by Splinter Ridge »

Do you beaglers clip the front dew claws off or just the back ones when they appear? What is the advantage other than appearance? Do you recommend clipping both the front and back?

I only clip the rear ones because the front ones are tighter to the paw. The rear ones can get quite large and get caught in the briars.

Best to use hemostats. They crush the blood vessels so there is not as much blood. Vet says to take them off from 3 to 5 days old. Click on search at the top and type in dew claws. There are alot of post with info on this.
