What's your opinion

Post by warddog »

With the computer becoming more and more popular of a place to talk Sh*t, swap spit, or even buy and sell some items, it's also becoming a perfect place for deceit, whioch could put a damper on all of us. I know most of us on this site as well as other sites have bought and or sold items. I know that I've came across several folks on here when inquiring about a dog that have flat been ripped off. Folks I'm NOT talking about having a difference of opinion of a dogs speed, hunt, color or size of it's butt hole but I'm talking about someone agreeing to a deal and then flat out NOT paying the full price, not paying at all or not sending the dog. Lets face it in order for the internet to work one of the parties has to trust the other or you can have no transaction. If the buyer won't send the money without the dog or the seller won't send the dog without the money there can never be a transaction because of lack of trust. IMO, if a person agrees to sell or buy an item for a specific price and the seller is trustworthy enough to send the item and the buyer doesn't pay or the buyer is trustworthy enough to send their hard earned money and get nothing in return then the one NOT following through is nothing more than a thief. I've done business with several folks on this board and met some terrific, honest people but all it takes is for this type thing to get started and then ALL of us will suffer by not being able to trust those we have not met when buying or selling items. Don't you think we as beaglers could and should police ourselves by divulging the names of these thieves, to prevent someone else from getting stuck? I know you southern folks know what the penality for horse thieves used to be and posting a name for a non- payer or a non-shipper isn't even remotely close to that, although it did the job at the time.

I can't believe 115 views of this post and not one opinion. I hope you aren't the next one to get the elevator.

Not sure what you're looking for? A buyer feedback forum would be nice.

I have to agree in a way. I would have bought a few dogs/puppies but hardly anyone on here lives near me. I would have to send money and then hope the seller would ship me the dog. Just my thoughts but I hope all fellow beaglers are honest.

I think posting names and e-mails/snailmail addresses of the appropriate parties would be fine. That way we could know who to stay away from.

That's kind of what I'm looking for. What if people on this board got the elevator (SHAFT) on something that was advertised on this forum in the trading post, either by not receiving it after paying for it or not getting paid for it after you shipped it? What's the opinion out there of exposing those who don't send what was agreed to or those that don't pay all or any of what the agreed to, price was. How about a third party that agrees to haul a dog for a certain fee and then gets to the distination only to be told they weren't paying that much if any at all. Do you think these types of obvious distrustful things warrant exposing the offenders for others to see? Like I said I'm not talking about a difference in opinion of a dogs traits or style because without the trust among buyers and sellers you'd not get that far.

Buyer feedback rating would be ok , but I think people are going to have to use some discretion on this. What some people call a good broke hound ,some of us wouldnt feed. all in all I feel much more comfortable with beaglers than when I made a brief stint in coondogs  Never doing that again. Got to use some common sense on any livestock purchase

Warddog..
I agree with you 100%!!!!!!! on this one. that is THEFT. :argue:
Warddog is not talking about buying a dog that the seller
(May have MIS-represented about hunting style or lack of hunt)
what he is saying is you agree to by a dog and seller says he want's
his money first, and you send him the money, and he does not send
you the dog you payed for. OR the reverse
THAT IS TOTALLY WRONG :bash:

Good-Dog hit the nail right on the head and Lonewolf's scenario may just as well fit the bill as you are not receiving what you were promised. In these situations there is no differences of opinion only the lack of getting what was agreed to, be it dog, money or papers. Yes, I've also been in the coon dog world, participated in the night hunts and probably witnessed most of it, including the cheating going on in the hunts. I participated for many years with eyes wide open but I sure hate to think that someone may get ripped off when somone else may have been able to prevent it just via a little correspondence.

As Warddog and a few other know when I first started going to rabbit hunting online I had made a post. It was called what would you do? It was my first litter of pups and I was quite nieve' about breeders. I figured if a breeder was buying a pup from me they must be honest. Was my first time shipping a pup too which was a hastle. They were supposed to have everything in order and ship collect. My pup got shipped to a different part of the state. I shipped before I had all the money and there were many excuses why it hadnt gotten to me. I figured sh*t happens and sometimes life gets hectic.

Once I got on the boards I didnt even have to mention the persons name and folks knew of them. In my opinion if someone makes a post without using names, tells their story, and people want to know who it is then pm them. Didnt take long for this person to find out I posted on the boards. I had got nasty pms and emails, but on the phone they were nice as pie. I said I wanted my $ and dont mail it bring it to so and so. They did, complained about the weather but it got there.

I was even going to let them keep the money because they told me one lie after another about the pups health. Each time they called I would contact my vet and ask for information for their vet. The story would change. I was finally fed up when I posted on the boards. Live and Learn has been my motto ever since.

While I am making this post I want to thank you Warddog! He was one of the folks that gave me some good incentive to the situation. Also and update on the breeder. They are not breeding beagles anymore, but another breed.

But hey not all came out bad I aquired a really Great friend out of the deal and she knows who she is ;) She is worth more to me than any amount of $.

If I had someone that I made a honest deal with and he did not send me the
(papers or dog or money) that was WRIGHTFULLY MINE and I did not get
a phone call or explanation,as to why. :argue:

I WILL HAVE NO PROBLEM TO NAME HIM OR HER
( be honest in what you do and you will earn respect)

MY OPINION

I WOULD POST HIS/HER NAME IN A MINUTE. IF THEY CHEAT ME THEY WOULD CHEAT ANYONE. I MAY BE ABLE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE. THE OTHER POST WAS RIGHT, THAT IS NOTHING BUT STEALING.
