Try giving him some kind of treat when he gets close to you. Anything to make him know that you are no danger to him.

i think he needs to go bak to the backyard for some more yard work...put him on a big check cord. mayb 20 feet long and say here. if he doesnt come pull him to you with the rope saying here here here the whole time. then when he gets to u give him a treat ( i use beggin strips or cheese) and praise the crap outta him...once he comes to you without u having to pull the rope take the rope off of him and put the e-collar on him. say here and when he comes give him a treat and praise the crap out of him. if he doesnt shock him on a very low setting. or as low as you can go and still get him to respond to your command. You will most likely have to do this more than a couple times. treat him like a pup and remember the key is repetition. hope this helps some.....keith

Well said Keith just got a hound a month ago that without a check courd never would have been able to catch him .With a lot of check cord work and patience he comes about 95% of the time treats will work wonder s you can pretty much get hound to do just about anything if it involves food

Haven't even thought about puttin a collar on him yet want him to come 100% percent on cord then we will move to off cord work.

I talked with a man that trains dogs for police work (dutch sheperds).
He said the key to training is to not give the dog a chance to not do what you want, use the long check cord, and give postive feedback. Cut up hot dogs in SMALL chunks. Don't work the dog too long but do it often.
P.S. After you have the dog trained, and you take it running, don't call it just to see if it will come. Wait untill you call all of your dogs. (dont solo the dog yet) as the dogs come in give them hot dog chunks and pet them up. A good time to do this is after they have caught a rabbit and need water. (LOL) After you have braged on the dog and let it know how much you love it let it go catch another rabbit.

NOOOOO just say here ONCE then reel him in (give him a few seconds to respond)
Always say the dogs name first, this will get his attention then the comand
remember it's a comand not a request.
Bite sized hotdog is cheapest and best also try giving it to the dog only while sitting, this is advanced but it discourages jumping.

chuck terry has the best idea in my opinion. run a weedeater string on the dog until he is easier to catch. i have seen this done several times and always seems to work.
