Breeds and Breeders
As I research the diffrent breeders, champions, and bloodlines I have seen that the name Branko comes up alot in many of the kennel pedigrees that alot of beaglers own. Has Branko set the bar? Is he the only Breeder that has such a widespread legacy? As I go to the diffrent more advanced kennel websites it seems Branko has had a hand in passing down his kennels bloodline. I'm new to this and these are some questions I have as I research the sport. Are there any other lines like Branko? I would be interested in studying other lines as well. Branko's line seems to have produced a well rounded and well known breed. Thanks in advance for any input that you guys can offer.

look at the back of branko and you'll find Able's East Coast Trimmer(jack/all trades). he's in the back of at least a handful of other bloodlines. Dingus Macrae pops up quite often also. some Round Pond bred dogs are in a lot of various pedigrees. its surprising how many "unrelated" bloodlines have a common dog or two way back in their pedigrees.
ive never seen a dog that Branko Krpan personally raised and trained but ive owned or seen enough based on his line and none of them made the cut here... just junk. now i wont even mess with or keep a dog if it has over 1/4 "branko" in it. some call that being kennel blind... i call it lesson learned.

Branko has bred some great dogs for sure.
Branko also bred "lots" of dogs too. Heck, even in Alabama I have some Branko in two of my dogs. THey run like Branko's, one reason they are for sale. lol
Before ya'll get ya'lls pannies in a wad, they do run but just to rough for me.

Branko has bred alot of hounds for sure, but it still takes a plan and he has a good one. Like em or not there is some fine Branko hounds,by Branko hound I mean the ones from Branko's kennel. There are good and bad in ALL bloodlines. As far as setting the bar, well theres alot of other bloodlines that have had success.

Branko has put his stamp on fast cottontail and hare dogs for sure. Terry McBride (McBride's) help start Branko and also finished many of his dogs. From up north, Otterbrook Top Dog has got to be a great one to look at. Then you have the peanut rollers like Paul Short (Short's). Different style dog but very successful in their format.
I am not an expert on Branko dogs but it doesn't look to me like he is the actual breeder on some of his dogs or has a long term breeding program. I have had some Ali Baba bred dogs I like, I can't say much about the others.
No peanut pushers around here, they run to catch. If he can produce those type of dogs, more power to him. I recently bought a female that was trained on hare. She has good speed (she will probably be a keeper) but she doesn't outrun what I have already got.

Branko has alot of dogs bred out of his line. Some are good, some are bad. Overall I think the good outshines the bad. When there are alot of dogs bred there are alot of mistakes made. Unfortunatly, some people see the name Branko on the dog and assume it is a greatest dog ever or assume it is the worst dog ever. The truth is somewhere in between.

OHHH Blackdirt- You are definately going to see me this summer and I am definately bringing my buddies Branko Female and then I hope you will come back on this board and let these people know what that (junk) Branko hound could do. Now when I run a dog I want it to circle a rabbit and I dont have all day to wait. This dog does it in the worst conditions and she is very very efficient. I'll see ya in a couple of months.

LOL cant wait merv. i know there are plenty of good "branko" dogs around, but in my limited viewing of what my area has to offer for them, i didnt need to look any farther. most of the ones i have owned/seen, go back to alibaba. and i have seen a couple lumberjack dogs also. come run, we'll have fun. if its in the summer, it will have to be sunday cause i'll be working quite a bit. if you plan it in later fall, i'll be flexible at work and can go most any day then.
go to a mapsearch (like http://maps.yahoo.com/dd) and enter princeton, IL as my location. im about 5 miles NE of town. all main RT's and interstates go thru Princeton around here. easy to get to.
