puppy pricing

can anyone help? my buddy has a litter of purebred tri color beagle pups but the female is not registered because the guy that sold her didnt want other breeders to get his pups . how much should he ask for them ? we are in nebraska.both the male and female are supposed to be good hunters but i dont know how good .

I would think $50-$100 would be fair. It depends on your market. Put them in for higher and you can always drop back if you need to.

I will compare this to someone buying a used automobile if you are looking at buying a car with 100,000 miles on it according to a saleperson it is just broke in a hell of a buy etc. If you were trading in that same car and that same salesperson were working on a dollar figure for you then this auto would be junk-a complete wreck etc. I hope you understand the comparison Go ahead and figure up a logical price for these pups - then double it, (this seems to have become the norm).

ive heard some people say if you ask 100 nobody wants them but if you ask 200 for the same pup the sell in no time . has anyone experienced this?

It depends on the location. I recently moved from Indiana to Colorado. In Indiana I found puppies between $150 and $250. In Colorado, they seem to be around the $300-350 range.

If you have the vaccinations currant and they are wormed properly, you will lose money at $50.00 I get $200.00 and depending on their age I just break even. But mine are litter registered with the AKC. so figure about half.
