Anyone still feed Purina?

Post by SilverBullet »

Lately there have been a few dog food threads but I haven't seen Purina or other good tried and true brands come up. I want to switch over from Blackwood due to the rising price, and was considering going to either

Purina One

Purina Pro Plan

Pro Pac

I can get all of these locally for a great $ and was wondering if anyone fed them and what did they think of the results. Out of the three, which food would you all say was the best?
Thanks :D

I have never fed Purina, but I have heard good things about Pro Plan... All hearsay though.

I use purina pro plan and puppy chow, but it has more waste than I would like but dogs do well on it and price is right but I REALLY miss Joy Fed.

I've switched from Black Gold to Hi Pro. Financially it was a great move. If you use the wieght circles rebate program you'll save a bunch! I do have more waste to clean up, but the dogs do great on it and they really like also.

If you like cleaning up lots of mushy poop, and i mean dont miss a day and get the hose out , because you'll need it, then feed Hi -Pro. Diamond is a good food but people have been having some problems with it as of late. We all just switched to The Pride 26/18 and its working out great. Even my pitbull is doing good on it. Just my 2 cents.

Pro Plan is the best food on the market. I fed it for a long time. Then pocket got a dent in it. If I was really conditioning hounds then I wouldnt feed anything else. not getting to run alot right know so I feed Diamond. Diamond is good food too just nothing like Pro Plan.

I like the $$$ of Diamond but heard lots of negative reports on it, like small litters, poor coats, poor weight gain and lost of poop.
But also noticed there are a few formulas of Diamond, so is it just one particular formula beaglers are having trouble with?

Pro Plan

I'm feeding Puria Pro Plan and like it a lot. I had switched from Purina One to Diamond Professional 30/20, for the winter, but my waste output with Diamond was way too much. I switched to Purina Pro Plan and I almost cut my waste in half. I don't think I'm exagerating when I say this. I have been watching closely & it's amazed me. Waste is not only less, its smaller and harder. I'm mixig Pro Plan Performance 30/20 with Pro Plan Original 26/16 to cut down on the protein a little and plan on switching to Pro Plan Original, only, once winter is over. I use the weight circles & get a rebate on the cost, also.

I feed diamond now because I was on some crapy brand and my dog was getting skinny and his coat wasn't really that nice. So I changed his food to diamond and now he looks great. And his coat looks nicer. I get a 50lb of it for $14.00. I fed the Hi-energy right now but they say to change to Matinence in the summer. Thats my 5cents

I feed Purina Puppy Chow up to a year on my pups and they look great. When they get a year old I switch them over to Sportmix 21/12.

I'm feeding purina dog chow but i feel that it is missing something. It looks like my dogs would get fat when they dont get hunted but it aint like that. I feed every beagle I have at least 15 ounces and they dont put on much weight. A friend of mine was feeding diamond and giving each one 8 ounces and they where fat as hogs. how many ounces do you guys feed right now?
