Have seen a lot of post from folks wanting to make these traps.They DO work better than other traps I have tried.Had some trouble at first with rabbits chewing out of the soft pine I used.My solution to this was to tack some of that light metal corner molding used for corners of drywalling to the inside of the traps slats. Hopes this helps those of you who are interested in making this trap. Keep em runnin'......... CHH

Pat have you mad a lot of these, I cant catch anything in my wire box trap besides coons and possum. Have apples in it now for two weeks and no takers. I am going to try pears next.

Mike, so far I have just made the one but planning on making one or two more. They're kinda heavy to lug around but once you have it set where you want it just take a burlap bag with you when you check it to put the rabbit in and reset it. I have also started using canned pear chunks as bait on the advise of an old timer and they seem to work well but you still get an occational skunk/possum. I recently heard to try a chunk of ear corn as a lot of the attraction is visual for the rabbit.I guess the skunks and possums won't give it a second look but you still may get a coon or two.I'm gonna give it a try and I'll let you know......... Warddog..LOL..I'm glad you posted on this as I couldn't remember your handle. Now that I know it I am happy to tell these folks that it was Warddog that sent me these plans for the pyramid trap.I would like to thank you again warddog as I was one of those guys that had read a lot about them but couldn't quite picture how to make one till you sent me these plans.After looking at your plans it was not hard to take it from there. BTW, the trap works very well !

Oh, James, forgot to say.... I knew you would recognize the change in my avatar. Yep, That "snowball" nose belongs to my Molly that I got from you as a puppy. She was nearly 8 mos. old in that pic and a rabbit runnin' fool ! .......... CHH

Very nice description of the trigger mechanism. Looks like I've got a weekend project now. These have-a-heart traps aren't doing the trick for me. I catch everything but rabbits. Thanks again for posting this.

I caught 4 rabbits yesterday in the have-a-heart, of course these were escaped knotheads from last Summer. The first was a doe and it looked like she had been nursing little ones. I put her in a hutch and reset the trap, when I went back later, I had 3 little rabbits in the trap that looked to be about 4 weeks old. I turned the doe and little ones all loose, as they were living underneath the old shed. Should make some good ones for Spring training. Got another look just before dark and there were 6 little ones out there feeding and playing, real cute. Don't know how they survived the cold, maybe the 2' of snow blocked the draft of cold air from under the building.

We used to tight-line in some of the ponds that were around. Usually had to clean out the turtles before we started catching alot of catfish ...Patch

There is a better and simpler trigger system.

Go to rabbit hunting online and do search for pyramid traps. You will find a description there or ask and someone will e-mail you pictures.
