Does anyone use Muck boots to rabbit hunt in .... if so how do they hold up to briars ?

The fabric uppers on most Mucks, or similar brands, does not hold up well to briars. I use Dan’s boots in the 12 inch style with fabric uppers, but I protect them with my briar pants. Even under my briar pants, they occasionally get nicks in the fabric.

I wore LaCrosse for many years coonhunting and rabbit hunting. Tried a pair of Mucks as everybody raved about them. I wear my brier pants or chaps down over them so had no problems with the briers. What I didn't like was after 2 seasons with them the sole came unglued from the body of the boot and they were done. When you pay $150.00 for a pair of boots that shouldn't happen. I routinely get 4-5 years out of the LaCrosse.

My experience with Muck boots is the sole has come off with in two years, not worth money.

My Mucks are coming 7 yrs old and yes, the sole is coming unglued. I'm going to try this "Flex seal" stuff on them to see if it holds. I can't chase after the hounds any more, so that may have added to the longevity, but the briar pants covers the uppers so they're good.
If I've learned anything over the years, the best way to make a pair of boots last is to have hounds that do the hunting, while using the boots for warmth, dryness and a mode of transport to get to a vantage point for viewing the chase.
To kill a rabbit only serves 2 purposes, feed the young hounds fresh blood that they become set in their breeding, and to not let me forget what good gravy taste like...lol

I bought a pair of Muck boots on sale earlier this year and wore them deer hunting so I can't comment on how they hold up to briars. I doubt I'll be finding out much about that as I am down to my last beagle and she is 12 years old and NOT hunted at all, so I'll not be wearing them out following beagles. I did get a Feist squirrel dog pup so maybe I'll get some wear on them in the woods after squirrels rather than briars after rabbits. YEP, plenty more squirrels to chase than rabbits as they drove us crazy trying to deer hunt. The best boots for rabbit hunting I ever owned were the Northerners and I still have a pair that I wear which is probably 15 years old. I will say I have tried several different things of the "FLEX STEEL" stuff and have found NONE, zero to do as advertised. Used the spray on leak sealer on a leaky gutter and a pin hole in my basement wall BOTH didn't stop either of them. It will be interesting to hear Patch's results on his Muck boots.

I'm pretty hard on boots and in my opinion they do not hold up well at all. I'd much prefer Lacross. Mucks fit a little better around the calf but aren't around my lower leg so they still slip some. That's all anybody around here carries hardly though. I've got to make a decent trip to get a pair of Lacross anymore.

I wear them and also other similar ones. I run/hunt year round in the thick briars, I usally get 3-4 years also. My current pair are 2 years old and are getting torn up, I'm try as a experiment to spray them with the spray "flex seal" curious to see if it helps

i wont buy another pair for many reasons. i bought some cabelas leather ones a few weeks ago and they really feel good and they told me keep your receipt anything goes wrong with them bring them back

LaCrosse is making their original Burleys with the chevron or air grip soles again.
Bought a pair of each off the Lacrosse website and had them delivered to my house.

Nothing better than the air grip soles in snow or mud in my opinion.
I wear the ones with the chevron soles with my snowshoes. I have the rubber GV bindings and it’s much easier getting the snowshoes on/off with the chevron soles.

Swampman I use to wear nothing but Burly but when they moved to China I bought two different pairs. They both started to dry rot after one year. I moved to Muck and was happy with them until they were bought out and also moved to China. I wish I could find a good pair of boots. Swampman how long are the Burly holding up for you?

I like L.L.Bean as a company and buy most of my hunting gear from them.
About a year ago I was looking through one of their catalogues and noticed about 95% of their products said "imported" with their description. That bothered me.
I called them and talked with one of their product specialists. Told them I was very disappointed in them that as an American icon it was a shame they weren't selling American made products as I'm a big supporter of "made in America".
I was looking for hunting boots and the guy told me that it's just about impossible to buy any foot ware still made in America. Most coming from China.
A sad state of affairs. If we're not careful China will own us.

I believe it's kind of late in the game to worry about China owning us. They as well as Japan own over 1 TRILLION of our deb and China is into everything in the U.S. This has been going on for quite some time. Instead of China trying to be the police of the world they let the U.S. get themselves into debt trying to do so and then China buys up the treasury bills. The fastest way to dwindle out assets is to get involved in continuous wars BUT war is a BIG MONEY business. By the way the U.S. has not been on the winning side of one since WWII.

I'm sending the Muck boots back .... I have always wore the original Bean 10" ( duck boots ) as my daughter calls them ! Their on backorder but will get them soon as they come in .
