As I mentioned before, I had some struggles whelping and raising some litters this spring.
Fly raised these five [ 3 males and two females ] and at six weeks old they are fat and sassy and looking real nice.
Thank God for small favors

My good friends Tabbie and Ryan Ferranti made the long ride down from Vermont to pick up a pair of females. Ryan had bought a pup from me three years ago out of my Josie and F.C. Bone Box Blue Spook that has made a pretty nice rabbit hound. Tabbie has gotten quite involved in the beagling, having joined the beagle club and getting to shoot her first hare in front of the beagles this past winter. They decided they wanted to have their own small pack.
We had a great weekend here in Tennessee keeping them busy with canoeing, kayaking, hiking in the National Forest, cook out, swimming and racing around the mountain roads in the Miatas.
These pups should be running when I see them later this Fall when I head north for some hare hunting.

Hello my good Friend Dana, always good to hear from you and the hounds!

Just wanted to say, those are some Good Looking pups !!

Love the male I got off you a few years ago,, his name is Dr's & Dr's Spitfire!

He has made lots of Gun Hunters, happy with pups off him!

The old State Trooper, Ken Grey way down south Ga. has a litter mate to "Spit" he like his male also.

Keep up the good work, and keep them pups coming.

Yours In Sports,

Hey Daddy Rabbit
Good to hear from you and hope all is well.
Last time we talked you were on your way home from the vet's. with a female that was having some problems after having her pups. That was the litter sired by Spit wasn't it? Mom and the pups all turn out alright?
I sure had some problems raising pups this Spring but did end up with Fly raising the above five and they sure turned out to be some nice lookers. My friend Bob and his son Ryan each have litter mate sisters to Spit that they love. Ryan and his wife made the 16 hour drive down from Vermont and took the two females I had. They'd been waiting for those pups almost two years so I was happy they were able to get them.
You take care and I'll talk with you soon.

In my opinion the WORST part of raising a litter of pups is having to put up with all the tire kickers, those seeking the "perfect" dog, less than serious houndsmen and folks looking for pets.
This male has been spoken for since the day his litter was bred more than four months ago. Now the guy doesn't show up when he says to get him and doesn't answer my messages.
I don't have the patience and I can't stand to be jerked around.
This pup is 9 weeks old, has had two combi shots, has been wormed regularly, I will supply a 5 generation pedigree and his A.K.C. pup registration. He's slick as a trout, bold, not shy in any way.
He will be a 15" class hound and if trialed should fit well in the Large Pack on Hare, Mid-West, Mid -South or Little Pack formats.
Price is $250.00 picked up here in east Tennessee about 40 miles south of Knoxville.

Good looking male pup Dana, but he would be a bit too strong for my pack of Mutts, especially if I tried to run him with "Spit" now that boy thinks,, he must have the Front, so it just wouldn't do for my pack!

He will sale I bet, and who ever get's him will be saying Ol Daddy Rabbit, sure said he would be a Gun Dog,, for sure!

He just looks like a true, gun dog pup to me,, you know I just been looking at them now for well over 75 years,, yep coming up on 83 JUNE 30TH.

Pup has been sold.
Going to the guy that owns his grand sire. I know Blake will keep him in the woods which along with breeding is where top rabbit dogs are made.

What you think he will Name the pup??

I know what I would name him, but lots of folks have different ways to come up with their hounds name.. I still like Ex-lax, gotta be top Shelf, and running the Front with that name..

Good looking pup, that for sure..

I've always wanted to name one B.O.L.O. = Be On the Look Out.
Freida Krpan, Branko's wife ALWAYS has the best names for their hounds.
One thing I'm very glad about and that's the fact that all the pups have gone to guys who will put them in the woods.
They can't learn anything in the kennel.
