Young dog went blind ?

I have a young male ive noticed wasnt looking in my direction when coming to pen just going by other dogs reactions .i says man my lil boys blind as a bat now what the heck could of happened .no change of food no recent shots or worming he always has had this green shine at nite when light hit.he did have a collision i seen i my yard few weeks back with my coon hound they were playing n ran into each other it was hard enough to wobble both. I have appointment for vet on thurs. He s a darn good dog hope its somthing easy ya right.thanks jack p.

After visit dog is not reacting to light completely blind this vet say dettached retna possibbly sends me out with specialicts # i asked about inflamation. Possibly steroids shots i read up on she does not go past giving me the # oh well i knew it was coming lol.so i call eye doc witch i schould of done 1st anyway told story he says both retnas to be detached is so unlikly or rare he has not seen it wow i have hope n this is over the phone says bring him in mon ill run few test s on him could be as simple as steroids n swelling dont get freaked out .im thinking seems like decent guy will see hope so.J.P

Thanks bear will see im not gonna go nuts on surgery but if its a reasonable fix ill try.

have you gave ivomec lately? temporary blindness can happen from overdose it will correct itself in a couple of days if that is the case

Eye specialist visit today results progessive retinal atrophy a genetic defect which was messing up his vosion from puppy till now ive just been able to notice it now vet says let him run your property no cliffs bridges roads run his rabbit which 90% of my running is done at my cabin property flat land amish roads no cars he said to protect him on a leash or kennel you may as well put him down .so i will run him only at my place with a close watch on him .i have others to hunt .thanks J.P.
