just had a litter of 5 pups early this morning and have a question. the mother is black and tan the father is black and tan with heavy tan ticks on his legs and a blue tick ring around his neck, tail tip, and chest. i have 3 pups that are black and tan and 2 that are mostly black with brown fringes and a white ring around their neck and white tail tip. will this turn blue or would they have been born blue? havent taken a reel good look at them, first time mother was a little nervous. any imput? thanks Rich Linville

Pups will get ticks later around 2 to 3 weeks.

hey rich - whats dogs are they out of? they can change to bluetick over the next 2 or 3 weeks in my experience. look at their skin under their coat closely. if the skin is a distinct pink then it will probably stay the color they are but if the skin kinda has a "blueish tint" to it, i bet they will get some blueticking on them. congrats!

Look at their pads. If they're blue, chances are the pup will be ticked.

went home on lunch and the skin tone on the 2 with white is really dark, so maybe the'll turn blue

After 3-4 days their pads will turn purple if they are blueticks. In about 2 weeks their coat will turn blue. Good Luck
