A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
I wanted this post to be about promoting different formats. As usual, I got sucked right in bashing other formats. Well one format. I am very proud to run in AKC events as well as running true registered dogs. I'M SORRY ABOUT GETTING SO EMOTIONAL! I have a passion for running dogs and found a format that to me is almost perfect. I guess i have a weird way of wanting to tell people about the AKC. I've done my best to try to promote a great program, that great beagles belong to. Also, the people are not usually mean in AKC like they are in ARHA. They have some real cut throats. There I go again. Well, Go AKC dogs! If you want to be the best you have got to beat the best. So thats why you need to run in AKC. UNTIL YOU HAVE A AKC FIELD CHAMPION, YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE RUNNING A GRADE DOG, OR WHAT SOME PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO CALL SH*T EATERS. JEREMY
You know I dont get riled up over stuff tlike this much and I dont trial but maybe 2 or 3 times a year but it just so happens that I got one of them crap eaten LPRCH That also won the state hunt in PROGRESSIVE PACK and took a 4th in Moorhead. And I think as much of him as he does me. With that said and since he is standing on top of the dogbox every morning I go to work waiting for me to come get him and put him in the truck even though I had to take him to the vet last weekend to have 2 teeth pulled because he could'nt fight of the infection because of his Kidney failure, and as long as gods willing and old Ice is standing, I'll be the 1st to give you an open invitation to let you're dogs back you're mouth up. Cause Ice realy dont pay much attention to what he's on the ground with he just wants to bring old bunny back to ya as much as he can and if you got a AKC DOG THAT CAN OUT HUNT HIM, OUT HUSTLE HIM, OUT RUN HIM AND OUT CHECK HIM, I'll be the 1st one to shake you're hand and be man enough to tell you what kinda dogs you got but I'm just gonna go out on a limb out say I doubt you got one that can do all of the above because Ive had him on the ground with about any kinda dog you can think of and never have seen him qiut or give up on anything. Just so you know I dont have anything against Akc and had Ice measured by Akc because Iplanned on running him in 13 inch class before he started haveing all the trouble with his health.
I just so happen to have 400 acres leased that is covered with rabbits and I'm sure Lynn, Blair, Mason, Vest and Hell I'll even drag Jimbo in it without him knowing cause I dont think any of them would hesitate to drop something on the ground.

If you don't breed for hunt sell you're beagles and buy a POODLE AND SOME PERFUME! GUN DOG'S that's all that matters. The rest will fall in place.
I don't need to call you. I was joking, but will be glad to come down and run with you. It just so happens I have a kentucky hunting license. Give me a call and I will be happy to run my hound. After we are done I hope to earn a litte respect back for what I have lost. THANKS JEREMY (812) 969-3032
You do not need to be a member of a Mid-West club for your dog to receive it's deserved points. I don't know how you came across that info, but it simply is not true. Club membership fees aren't even close to $100, more like $20-$30. Undoubltedly the best and hardest competition in any format.
You should consider starting a Mid-West club in your area if there are enough dedicated and willing people. Contact any Mid-West club official and they could lead you in the right direction. Good Luck
Ill drop,,,,lol Just got some ole pups,,,,we may have to wait til there done eating crap but they probably could still eat on the run...... mine would be considered crap eaters to the tenth power considering I dont trial.......LMAO
Incahoots, I agree about learning all we can about all the dogs in all the registries. To continue to develop total dogs this is a neverending process. I operate from my definition of a total dog. The closer to the beagle standard for structure the better. As for hunt: I want big search and jump, speed as fast as line control will allow, gears(brains) to slow down when scenting is tough, working a check from the point of loss, good hound voice, trainable and easy to live with, sound temperament, not trashy.... It makes no difference to me what registry formats reward. Dogs with these characteristics are competitive in many formats.

some of the best dogs i have owned were from arha breeding ben and zig zag i got from mike staten. i understand ben has achieved a win in arha i sold him back he got to strong for my pack too quick and zig zag rip died to soon. they were exceptional running licensed trials and making winners packs and placing as derbies. arha guys are good people to know just get the dog that dont swing enough for them and you should be competitive. the arha is turbo crazy and have added to his fame the main event whatc out for main events showtime just waiting to jump in that circle and represent the blazer

I would'nt worry about it Will cause wtih the legs them 2 Thorobreds you got have they could probably catch up when they get done eating I would take Jazz but I have ban her from my running spot at Grays Run, I'm 5 less rabbits over there and aint got to shoot the 1st rabbit. Oh well at least she would rather eat rabbits than crap

To all of us who have accomplished great things in trials...KNOW THIS... Many of the best rabbit dogs that have and will continue to grace the face of this planet will never be entered in any trial. Here is just one example. A guy from Tennesee drove up last summer to see Beau run. We ran him solo in an area with few rabbits, we ran him with many rabbits. and we ran him with the guys female and a couple other dogs sired by Beau. That female ran as good as the best I have seen. She is a great structured hunting beagle with awsome hunt. He takes her north for all-day runs on Hare as well. Now that guy does some serious traveling to watch great dogs run to breed quallity beagles. Isn't big on pedigrees but has one. Don't know if you would consider his female a grade dog or not. One thing for sure she is a great rabbit dog. Multiple trips of 11+ hours of driving plus trips to see other dogs run will serve him as well as our trialing miles. His knowledge of nutrition and puppy care shows me that he cares a lot about the health and well-being of his dogs. Maybe a better investment of his time than learning all the trial rules or how to outhandle or tweek the rules in his favor, etc. And this guy only sells these pups for a couple hundred dollars so he definetely does it to have great hunting dogs and not for the money. 4 pups were reserved before he even bred her to Beau. And I bet not many of those pups will ever see a trial either.

I sure hope you all invite me after all I have only sh*t eaters too. You all get me all shook up and then want to back out. I have not one champion on paper, but I have killed over 750 rabbits and hare over my OUTLAW dog and at least 450 over my Tori dog. I will put them down with anybodys hounds because they will get theres. They may never champion in any format but don't take the fire from me. LETS RUN THEM.
By the way, I am only 15 minutes from louisville, KY. My outlaw dog is out of hall of fame Louis's Blue Man And a female out of rush hollows maveric. He has plenty of arha breeding. jeremy
