A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)

Anyone hearing any big bad Chuck Norris, that Bodetis boy was talking about. It appears that some immature people measure not only their deer in inches but themselves as well, Scares the heck out of me. As far as maturity goes that young lady with the deer this morning was more mature than Bodetis, ( I hate to say that because he is so big and scares everyone so bad,( in his mind) She killed her first deer with a gun her grand-father bought her, even though it was a three point I am sure it is her Deer of a lifetime, regardless of how many more or bigger Deer she kills. You see it is the hunt, the tradition, the outing that she cherishes , it was evident, intelligent lady, unlike Bodetis and his buddy who in an attempt to make up for lack elsewhere, cherishes inches above all else. Just so ole " inches" will know there is more big bucks on my wall than he will ever bag. buck's of a lifetime for beginners like himself, but just reminders of good times spent with good friends for a man who cherishes the hunt, ( no dogs were harmed in the killing of any of my Deer) respects others right to do so, and is not lacking elsewhere! I think it is his buddy's turn to do some yapping now, as "inches"has just had his turn.

....................................................................................................................................still calling chit on your story, and my wife is getting on to me now for stooping to your level, and i have to agree, hopefully some seen how you took what i said and twisted it as much as the words coming out of you twisted mind. tell ya what if you ever get to beaverdam ky, send me a pm and il be more than glad to see whos lacken in what. happy hunting and hope no one ever shoots your dogs!!!!
Yea, you are all about chit. No one does any good nor do they see any good but you,Thank you for the invite, but I suspect if we all stay out of Beaverdam Kentucky, we can all lower the chance of getting a dog shot! You have the same invitation to come to Beverly, West Virginia, AND you can bring your dog, he will be fine, only hunters I run into up here respect other's right to hunt as well! Just a guess but twenty-something right?

Yall, what would you do if you had somebody in your tree stand on your land? The guy said he was sorry and was coming down the stand.I just said stay up there and kill the deer if you see him.I went back to the truck.I could have done this and said that but a deer not worth it.I would say in the next two hr you can pick one up on the road. There everywere. Now what I did do and never had any more problem like that again.Besise putting up no hunting,I said hunters are welcome.200 dollors a day per person and pay on the spot.Never seen anybody eles in there.
To me a 13 old boy is to young by itself with that kind of gun.I put the blaim on mom and dad.
Fellow hunters, the bottom line is this,if it's not your dog(sorry for the botched up deer hunt)if it's not your land(public land is owned by no one person)then you don't have any rights to get involved in placing judgment.Any dog shot, for whatever reason, and I'm witness to,the person doing the shooting WILL go to jail,if he's lucky!!!!
to everyone who has read my post, just want to say that i dont condone shooting a dog while hunting. especially rabbit hounds. and maybe i should have clarified that i dont hunt public land only private, that includes deer and several tracks of private for rabbit, i have had many stray dogs ruine my hunts, and yes at times i wanted to put a bullet or arrow in them but didnt. all i was trying to do was see if from both sides and there are still some out there [ and not the bodetis's of the world] who really dont care and would shoot a dog especially on private land. thats why i put mine up for a few .i also understand the ones that have no choice to hunt and hunt public because of the lenth of gun season in their area.and like rock said there areguys that willshoot for trespassing their land so they surely wont have a problem shooting a dog. i have just as much tied up in my hounds minus the trials that most of you do and would not be happy if one of mine got shot, but i just make sure to never put me or my hounds in that situation. i think its to dangerous to be out there period when high powered rifle bullet are taking flight.but thats just me. and im sure the kid didnt know what typeof dog he shot an dthe money tied up in it. probally doing what he was told to do or just reacted at that momentand would love to take it back. either way hes a kid and kids make mistakes. also want to apologize for engaging in the childish behavor today,my apologies
bodetis, I reread your earlier post and i figured you would have a hard time in a stand and might shoot a dog because, you didn`t want a horse, cow dog or anything messin up your deer hunt. I feel better now. Good luck

Headed out again this morning to do a little rabbit hunting. Our Deer gun season is still underway here but as I have never had a problem , I will continue it. Some have said it is dumb to do so. I see others doing it as well , I see other rabbit hunters hunting during deer Gun season often. I guess it would be dumb if one was around dumb people . The deer hunters around here are not lacking in Deer knowledge and do not cling to the wives tales of " if a dog walks anywhere near your stand a deer will not come by for a week" LOL. I always am amazed at the folks who say wild dogs should be shot and claim they can tell a wild one from someone's pet that got loose. I will admit that under some circumstances it would not be smart to hunt a certain area, for instance if I had someone to say " Not saying I would or wouldn't shoot a dog and I can UNDERSTAND why someone would shoot a dog" I know I would be standing in the presence of a dog killer, that's my opinion on the matter If any think otherwise than you just simply think otherwise. So my advice is to be wise about what you hear and see and remember it is not only dogs that backtrack when the pressure gets on them, my last word on this topic, it was my intention to prevent someone from hunting in an area where they will get a dog shot, I am now well aware of one area. have a good rabbit hunt!

.................................................................................................................................. gw look, first when i said not saying i would or wouldnt that doesnt mean that i have, it means iv came close but never have. im not backtracking on anything iv said. iv wanted to several times out of frustrating of being in the woods for days burning time and energy to finially have the opportunity and a dog comes out of no where and runs the deer off. your adding nibblets to your story. 'never said a deer wouldnt come back for a week 'and the strays iv seen you can see every bone in their body and see the dogs more than once,no way they are family pets . but if they are its on the owners who let their pets roam loose malnourished like that. also dogs are put down everyday at shelters for no reason, you should probaly start a post and protest that. im glad you live in a perfect bubble world where your at, il stay here where its full of mean people. good luck on your hunt today and hopefully you will come across another hunter who has you dogs to thank for killing a deer, and hopefully they to will let it lay for 4 hours also until you get there so you can help drag it out. my last post on this , and im 39 if you must know. good luck today !!!!
Bodetis, only thing I have been wrong about you so far is your age. Most at 39 are far more mature than what you appear to be. I would have and did guess you at about twenty one, At your current age most folks get to the point to where they understand they have to share, your current understanding is more in the line of how you can " understand why someone could shoot another man's dog". ( your words, and I believe the " someone " in your statement applies to yourself). See why I was thrown off about your age! I said I wasn't going to speak with you until you matured so this will definitely be the end of my conversations with you, at your currently rate of maturity I don't have enough time left! As far as you shooting a dog you said you wouldn't say that you would or wouldn't, The folks that can be trusted can say without any reservation that they wouldn't. I know your type, wouldn't have my hounds anywhere near you, I know exactly how you would act if you thought no-one was around, and that not only applies to the current discussion. You are not someone to be trusted under any circumstances in my opinion. Have a nice day and didn't your wife tell you to shut up! oh, yea, I hope I didn't rile you none, you big 6'3" 265lb. terror! really scared me bad! That is why you threw those numbers out there wasn't it, that also showed your lack of maturity. I along with some others will remember your comments about dogs long after this thread is gone!
When I was taught to deer hunt, about 46 years ago, I was told that any dog chasing a deer could be and should be shot; that it was a legal and moral thing to do. I think that many hunters might still believe this to be true; they certainly believed it back then.
