I see what your saying. But Look At the RH. There are hunts all summer, from what Ive heard sounds like big turn outs. There is a hunt next weekend if Im not mistaken. Who is dumber the ones gonna take dogs out of the kennel and try to win a trophy or the ones been runnin in this heat getting loaded for bear. But come to think of it the ones I know running right know arent running getting ready for a trial. They are running cause they love running dogs, and they love running dogs with GRIT.

We think its hot here but think about our Southern Brothers Louisiana, GA, Alabama, FLorida. We are dreaming for OCT> They are probably dreaming about the weather we are having know.lol

dogwhisperer, to each his own. If ya'll want to take a break from runnin by all means do it. Just don't use the heat as an excuse. I race horses and all us dumb SOB's just put our big heads in the sand and keep right on racing thru the heat and the cold and the rain and mud. Why would I let the weather conditions keep me from treating my dogs or horses like the atheletes they are. I've raced in 100 degree temps with the temp inside the paddock reaching 120. If your stock is conditioned, the temp is not even a factor. Conditioning boys. Without it your asking for trouble.

I am not bragging on my dogs, they probably aren't any better than most. I have been running dogs loose on the place 24 hours a day. I swap them out when I see them getting too sore. The last 3 days here it has reached 102, 104, and today it was 101. I do have a lake close by that they can drink from and cool off. These dogs do take breaks bit they run most of the night and a good part of the day. These are young dogs from 2 years on down. They aren'nt bred for this heat they have a lot of hare hound bred in them. I would never run an old dog in this heat.
If any of your dogs do overheat don't throw water on them, always cool a dog from underneath it wont hurt them and they cool a lot quicker

Guys it is true that athelets taske a break in the offseason, but they keep training and conditioning their bodies. If they didn't, the young guys comming in would have their jobs. Personally, I prefer to keep my dog conditioned. Each of us has their own opinion.

Rufus I couldn't have said any better. Maybe after I have run as long as you have I know about half of what you have forgotten.

Guys my little Pine Mt. Dyer's Eve is a grand-pup to old Voo. She has a lot of he grand pappy in her. She will be 17 months old on the 23rd of this month and can already put it on some older dogs. I credit Rufus's breeding and conditioning as well as RAD's to her abilities. I can only try to continue it. I do not get to run her as much as I would like, but I try to keep her in shape.

I aint chad or brad they chose too hang , ol jimbo rides alone.

This is between you all leave me out of this. I can't speak for Brad, but I'm not a part of this so-called dark side. I'm just Chad, and leave it at that. Jimbo I consider you a good friend and have run down the road with you many a mile. You couldnt be more wrong about where my loyalty runs, I've always helped you when you needed it. I'm just tryin' to finish a dog.
How did I get into this? :???:

Me and Danny have bumped heads before but we talked and came to a understanding. Maybe it is time you all did the same. I am not on any side Jimbo. Not yours Not Danny's. I would appreciate it if my name was left out of this....
but at least I know you all are thinking about me..kinda makes me feel all fuzzy inside

i say we just cull them all ryan,go to ky,get a few of these bionic bunny busters, and head for death valley and chase jackelopes all day
Wonder where Big lake Blue Boy came from? Could it have been KENTUCKY? I bet he's been run to death in the heat by ol Jeffro, when the rest of us was eatin pork rhines and drinkin beer. Its funny how alot of people come to Kentucky to buy these Bionic Bunny Busters and forget where they gottem.

I remember judging ol Voo when he got bit. He was scorchin that rabbit solo on 3 legs and what looked like a tree trunk for a fourth. Still dont know how you caught em. Thats what Jimmie , Will and Eddio are talkin about when they refer to No Fear In Their Eyes , No Quit In Their Hearts and No Regard For Their Bodies

you boys kill me,i have been at the fair with my family, but had a feeling the thread and the mocho my dog runs all day brragfest would still be goin..........

first off,as for blue boy bein 0-2 against the mighty valley, that was back when jeff brown owned him,as for blue boy runnin in the heat,DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU WHEN HE GOT HIS WIN???????THIS PAST JULY,IN THE DEAD OF SUMMER,92 DEGREE DAY,THE FINALS HAD VERY LITTLE RUNNIN,BUT HE DESTROYED A NICE PACK OF HOUNDS IN THE FIRST ROUND AND OUTCHECKED TWO REAL NICE DOGS IN THE SEMIS....SO HE CAN GET IT DONE IN THE HEAT

DO I NEED TO TALK ABOUT BANDIT TIEING FOR THE WIN AT CHILLOCOTHE LAST WINTER ONLY TO LOOSE ON HUNT AND HANDLING IN ICE STORM WITH HALF HIS FACE TORE OFF AND HANGIN AND BLEEDIN EVERYWHERE?THEN PLACING 3RD THE NEXT DAY?

SO WHAT IF ROWDY QUIT THE OTHER NIGHT IN 90 DEGREE HIGH HUMIDITY NIGHT,HE HAS BEEN OUT OF SHAPE SINCE I GOT HIM BACK

TRUTH IS,ALL MY DOGS THAT HAVE BEEN WITH ME CAN GET IT DONE IN HEAT AND ICE,AND EXTREEM CONDITIONS,THEY HAVE IN THE PAST AND WILL AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.

ALL I DID WAS MAKE ONE REMARK ABOUT ONE OF MY DOGS OVERHEATING AND IT WAS LIKE A SHARK TO BLOOD,AND THE HOLE GANG IS THERE LIKE A BUNCH OF CHILDISH BULLIES,EVERONE SAYIN THE BLOOD FROM KY IS THE GREATEST...WELL IT SHOULD BE,THERE ARE MORE REGISTERED DOGS IN ARHA IN KY THAN THE REST OF THE USA COMBINED,THE ODDS ARE IN YOUR FAVOR,75 PERCENT OF MY KENNELS BREEDING WAS DONE IN KY,BUT DOES THAT MAKE THEM PLACE ALL OVER THE US,IN STATE HUNTS,BIG FIVES,AKC,NKC,ECT,ECT.

NO,AND WHO CARES IF IT DOES,DO YOU WANT A COOKIE FOR BREDIN THEM,IT IS MY LATE NIGHTS OF RUNNIN AND TRAVELIN THAT GOT THEM THERE,THEY MAY NOT BE THE GREATEST,BUT I AM HAPPY,AND IF ANYONE THINKS THEIRS IS BETTER,LETS GET TOGETHER AND RUN,IF THEY ARE BETTER THEN MINE,WELL WOOPTY DOO DA DAY,HERES YOUR COOKIE AND A PAT ON THE BACK,I WILL STILL TAKE MY CULLS HOME,FEED AND WATER THEM AND COME BACK ANTD TRY AGAIN

FACT IS,ANY DOG CAN BEAT ANY OTHER ON ANY GIVIN DAY WITH THE RIGHT CONDITIONS,AS LONG AS YOUR HAPPY WITH WHAT IS IN YOUR KENNEL,THE HELL WITH WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS,IF THEY DON'T LIKEM,THEY DONT HAVE TO RUN WITH THEM

BLUE BOY PICKED UP A DOG TURD AT THE FIRST CAST I PUT HIM IN AND ATE IT,THE HOLE GALLERY POINTED AND LAUGHED,AND CALLED HIM A SHYTEATER....I SAID WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO WHEN THAT SHYTEATER WINS THIS CAST,I GUES YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO GO BACK AND TELL EVERYONE YOUR DOG LOST TO A SHYTEATER,HUH?

GUESS WHO WON :?: :?:

I dont no of this bragfest your talking of its just a way of life here in the mt's the strong dog survives. As far as cookies go. a good breeder breeds to better the breed not to please us. Ive had the privilege over the last 17 years of knowing Rufus Stewart who i consider a houndsman. he's allways said breed to better to breed not to please everyboby else.so run what you want when you want.as for me i'll be on the mt gutting dogs striving to better my pack. ive busted more than one but they died on rabbit with no quit in their heart's and thats what they were bred to do.if their not going to sacrifice all cull them and breed one that will.

Well, pretty good post after all.Glad there is people breeding to better the pack instead of making a buck.I ran for 5 hours last night it was 98 degrees when i stepped off the back porch. I took 6 bullets and 1 lead strap. Came in at 12 last night with 5 dogs 1 lead strap and no bullets.
I ran 4 rabbits i think maybe a possum, 1 of the young ones did something not exactly right, the rest of the pack ratted him out though.
I really enjoyed the evening ,big moon, had a good time . I am really glad i am in the country I gotta walk 100 yards and i am runnin as long as i choose. Ya know i sure am pleased to have my pack. Danny any time ya wanna load up and run with me just let me know....Open invite leave the attitude in buckeye state. I will show ya what 20 years of striving to excell is all about. My dogs are not the best by far but they will die running rabbits in the heat. Remember i did place 6th in 05 at the world with a 3 legged dog...... No fear in there eyes or quit in there hearts.
